*********
The next morning, Albert opened his eyes and woke up from the hospital bed.
Having had a good night's sleep, he felt pretty good, although his stomach was a bit hungry, and... his legs were a little sore.
Sitting up in bed, he yawned and lazily stretched his body, glancing at the Weasley twins in the next bed.
Both of them were already awake but still lying in bed, lost in thought.
"Are you guys okay?" Albert looked at them with a half-smile.
"Not really, still feeling a bit nauseous," Fred grumbled.
It was a side effect of using the Portkey, causing nausea and hysteria.
Fred and George weren't the only ones who experienced Portkey sickness.
Before the Hogwarts Express started operating, the Ministry of Magic had distributed a large number of Portkeys at gathering points throughout Britain. Among the students who arrived at Hogwarts through this method, many experienced symptoms of Portkey sickness. As a result, the hospital wing was always overcrowded in the days leading up to the start of term.
"You'll feel better tomorrow. I'm going to have breakfast now, so you guys can stay here!" Albert got up, changed his clothes, and casually used a Reparo spell to restore his torn clothes.
"Albert," Fred suddenly called out to him.
"What's up?" Albert paused and turned to ask.
"Thank you for saving us," the twins said in unison.
"You're welcome. We're friends, aren't we?" Albert smiled and waved his hand.
To be honest, Fred and George were almost moved to tears.
If it weren't for Albert's awareness of their disappearance, his ability to guess their whereabouts, and his brave rescue when they were in dire straits, they would probably have been eaten by the Acromantulas.
Fred and George exchanged glances, watched Albert's figure as he walked away, and murmured softly, "Yes, we're friends!"
...
Albert didn't have breakfast since it was almost noon by now, and the Great Hall no longer served breakfast. He went straight to the kitchen, where the house-elves warmly welcomed him and served him freshly baked food.
As Albert ate, he opened his task panel and casually completed the task of Spider Slayer.
Last night, he had killed a total of 94 Acromantulas, gaining 4700 experience points. It was indeed a substantial gain.
Definitely worth it!
A bloody good profit.
Albert was very satisfied with his harvest. The adventure last night had truly paid off.
By the way, what's this?
He suddenly shifted his gaze to a newly appeared task.
Tripartite Achievement.
You've received a special contribution award from Hogwarts. Why not receive a few more during your time at school and make a name for yourself at Hogwarts by earning two more special contribution awards?
Current Progress: 1/3
Reward: 6000 experience points, a level 3 designated skill, and a +200 reputation in the magical world.
"Oh my, my task is amazing!" After seeing the task information, Albert dropped the sausage he had just stuffed into his mouth back onto his plate.
He never expected such a cool operation!
Albert's gaze then shifted to another task he hadn't noticed last night. Two new tasks had appeared.
Gryffindor's Secret Treasure.
You have discovered a map of Gryffindor's secret treasure. Although its reliability is still low, some people claim that the secret treasure contains priceless items. As an adventurer, you shouldn't miss this opportunity. Find the location of the secret treasure and enter the vault.
Reward: Unknown.
Unknown?
It was the first time Albert had seen a task with an unknown reward.
Last night, he had lied to Professor McGonagall, saying that he had thrown the treasure map into the Forbidden Forest when, in fact, he still had the map in his pocket. Albert wasn't particularly interested in the so-called secret treasure of the Weasley twins, but he stayed behind just to see if he could trigger a task.
Albert took out the so-called treasure map from his pocket and examined the old piece of parchment. He discovered that it had indeed undergone some changes.
On the back of the parchment, there was an additional sentence: "This is a great adventure!"
There was also something like a compass.
Was the pointer pointing to the secret treasure?
It seemed quite intimidating, no wonder Fred and George believed that this was a genuine treasure map.
However, this map was most likely created by a wizard. Otherwise, the task prompt wouldn't mention its low reliability and claims made by some people.
The wizard who created the map had probably already found Gryffindor's secret treasure, and leaving behind the map was merely a way to showcase their achievement and let others experience their adventure.
The phrase "This is a great adventure" most likely indicated that.
Of course, there was another possibility.
The creator of the map might not have actually found Gryffindor's secret treasure. They left the map behind hoping that someone else would find the treasure, or it could simply be a prank.
The twins clearly believed in the former, which was why they went on the adventure and ended up getting lost and stumbling into the hunting ground of the Acromantulas.
"Oh well, let's leave that for later!"
Albert temporarily set aside his thoughts of searching for the treasure. The route might lead him through the Acromantula's nest, and those creatures were dangerous. His ability to kill a hundred of them was largely due to luck, and he had enough self-awareness to know that.
However, Albert was still somewhat interested in the secret treasure left behind by the four founders, despite the slightly underwhelming task rewards.
If Gryffindor's secret treasure was hidden in the Forbidden Forest because Gryffindor himself liked to venture around and obtaining the treasure required courage, then would Ravenclaw also have a secret treasure? But where would she hide it? Hogwarts Castle?
What about Helga Hufflepuff's secret treasure? Slughorn... Well, Slughorn's secret treasure was probably just a bunch of well-connected contacts.
Albert immediately dismissed these strange thoughts and continued to claim the reward for the rescue mission.
Looking at the two skill points given as a reward, Albert felt his mood brighten. It meant he could raise two skills to level 3 or one skill to level 4.
As for the Spider Slayer, it provided Albert with 10,000 experience points, a Spider Slayer title, and, oh, he wondered how he would obtain the bottle of Acromantula venom mentioned in the task. Last time, the 25 Galleons from the task were sent to him by Dumbledore.
Who would it be this time?
Professor Slughorn? Since it was mentioned in the task, it shouldn't be a trick.
Albert didn't dwell on these thoughts any longer. After quickly finishing his food, he left the kitchen and prepared to write a letter to help Fang buy dog food.
Fang had helped him a lot last night, and Albert wouldn't forget his contribution.
Moreover, his earnings this time were quite good.
However, just as he passed through the entrance hall, someone called out to him.
"Katrina, is there something you need?"
"Professor Slughorn is looking for you," Katrina said.
Here it is!
The bottle of Acromantula venom from the task was indeed going to be given to him by Professor Slughorn.
"Thank you, I know. I'll go there now." Albert nodded slightly at Katrina, turned around, and headed towards the Dark Arts Defense Office on the second floor of the castle.
This chapter is coming to an end. I'm currently organizing the outline for the second volume, so updates will be relatively scarce for the time being.
The first and second volumes of this book are linked together, partially inspired by "The Hogwarts Mystery." It's estimated to be over 600,000 words.
