Hemera POV
"Lady, are you okay?" I heard someone say from behind me.
The voice my heart skipped a beat. I wasn't expecting anyone to come here. What if it is Crane or worse Eliot? I turned out of shock and held my chest.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." The man said and came closer. "Are you okay?" he asked. I could hear a bit of concern in his voice.
"Yes, I am fine. I didn't just expect anyone to come here." I said and raised my head. I looked at him and honestly, his face took my breath away. He was so handsome but most importantly, I could sense he wasn't ordinary. There was something unique about him.
"She-wolves shouldn't be alone."
"Well, I am not a damsel in distress. I can take care of myself."
"Hmm" he smiled. His smile made his eyes pop.
"What is a pretty she-wolf like you doing out her all alone." He said with a smile. His teeth were so white as snow and his smile was so elegant.
"That shouldn't concern you."
"You never know. I might be of help."
I looked at him and inhale. He is right. he might know him. Besides there is no harm in trying. He will not actually figure out what I want to do. He looked at him with a little smile and goodness, it was so convincing.
"I am looking for a certain alpha. I want him to ask me for a dance." I spoke. I saw his eyebrows rise with doubt and surprise. He put his hand behind him.
"Why? if I may ask"
"It's complicated."
"Try me."
I looked at him and he smiled. Well, what do I have to lose?
"Well, he is the only one who can help me find the people I am looking for. I heard he is the most powerful alpha and is well gifted and connected. So, I need him." Said to him. For some reason I trusted this person even if I should not. But he seems calm and powerful. Not one to talk much but one to do a lot.
"So, you are going to use him?"
"Don't make sound bad if not I will feel bad."
He laughed making me laugh as well.
"Besides, I am not just going to use him. I will trade something in return."
"Hmm." He nodded with a smile.
Goddess what is wrong with me? I should be looking for Elpis not talking to this guy I haven't even heard of.
"So, what are you doing here? You are meant to be downstairs dancing with him" he smiled at me.
"I know that." I said and rolled my eyes. "I looked for me everywhere but I couldn't find him. I was told he was going to me that this party that is why I bothered to come." I told him. I was disappointed.
"And what might be this might alpha's name?" he asked me.
I was a little bit hesitant.
"You never know. I might just be the angel that will send you to him."
I wasn't sure if I should tell him. But then I thought about it, he was right. What if he knew him or what if I could reach him through him? Besides I couldn't sense anything bad about him and my senses are never wrong.
"Elpis Kane." I told him, "Elpis Kane. Alpha of blood moon pack." I told him. The smile on his face immediately went away. He kept on nodding and that gave me some kind of hope that maybe he knows him personally. But he dashed my hopes. All he said was "Hmm" and I smiled. I just grunted and went downstairs.
I went down the stairs thinking. I was already two steps down to the ballroom when I felt someone hold my hand. I turn and I saw the same man. This time he had his mask on.
"A dance you want? A dance you will get wolf." He said with a small smile.
I didn't know what happened to me. In this situation, I am meant to reject him or tell him to let me go but I found myself obeying. I looked into his eyes they were so dark. It was amazing.
He took me to the center of the dance floor. The music started and we started to dance. I knew the dance steps by hand so I didn't really need to count my steps. I looked into his eyes. They were so daring, like there was something that I wasn't knowing
I looked around and there was so one on the dance floor. It was strange. Why would they clear the dance floor for him? It should only be cleared for the couple of the hour or someone powerful like Elpis Kane. Wait;
"Elpis Kane?" I asked.
"The one and only." He replied with a smirk on his face.
I couldn't believe it. I was actually dancing with Elpis Kane.
"You should have told me when we were upstairs."
"What is the fun in that?" he asked me with a smirked. "You needed help with something and I came. That is what I always do."
That made me chuckle. He spun me around continuously and then held my waist. I found myself looking at him. My lips an inch away from his. His lips looked like cherry. We continued to dance.
"Why isn't anyone on the dance floor with us? Are they afraid of you?" I asked. I didn't just want to dance. I wanted to make an impression on the man to the extent he falls hard for me.
"Are you afraid of me?"
"Should I?" I asked back as we turned side by side following the music. He spined me around and dropped me. Just when I saw about to fall, he held my waist and my leg exposed by the slit. We came back up looking at each other. The music stopped and we stopped dancing but we kept on looking at each other.
"That should get you what you want. I hope we meet again wolf." He said and bowed to me to end the dance. He let go of my hand which I didn't notice he was holding till then and left. We both went opposite sides of the ballroom, as everyone clapped for us. It was the most beautiful experience I have ever had.
All eyes were on me. That is exactly what I wanted. I was sure Eliot will come after that and he did. One thing you know about the males is that whenever they a party or dinner and someone better than them dances with the prettiest girl in the room, their dominance always feels threatened. All men are the same; human or wolf.
"I am the host; I should be afforded a dance, shouldn't I?" he asked and brought out his hand for me to take. I looked at Lydia and the look on her face was priceless. I gave him my hand he we lead to the dance floor.
"What is your name? if I may ask" He asked as we danced.
"If you know my name wouldn't that kill the fun alpha." I answered.
"You sound really familiar, have we met?" he asked again. I became a bit scared. What if he recognizes me?
"I simply have one of those voices." I told him. The music ended and he bowed.
"Love to see you again some time." He said and left.
The party was going well. Eliot and his bride-to-be were giving their speech. I took a glass of champagne from one of the waiters and listened. God! It was so pathetic. Giving the fact he was only doing it to take over her pack in the first place.
I stood by the side and enjoyed the show while taking a sip of my champagne. Someone came to my side and gave me a letter. I looked at the man and I could sense he was a wolf, a beta to be precise. He gave me a note and said "He will be waiting for you" and left without allowing me ask or say anything.
I opened the note and it read:
Midnight, first place we met. Join me for a drink? I will be waiting for you.
-E. Kane.
