CHAPTER 13: A visit to Grandma
Laura POV
"Huh??" I asked, then I realized I had said that out loud.
"Nothing" I said and he squinted his eyes.
Ariana is crazy, Xavier is crazier, so I think their grandmother will be the craziest.
"Ariana!!" Xavier yelled and she came standing on the stairs with a face telling him he's disturbing her privacy.
"Get dressed then we visit Grandma" He said and walked upstairs.
Does this little witch have to tag along?? I thought and smirked then walked behind him up the stairs, I walked past Ariana who just stared at me and got into my room.
Few minutes later, I heard loud footsteps from outside the room. I knew it was Ariana and her heels. It told me they were ready, I put on one of the heels I had got the previous day and walked out of the room.
Xavier and Ariana were already downstairs waiting for me. They saw me walking down the stairs and I could swear Xavier's eyes was lost on my body for a while.
They walked out and I followed behind them, we got into the car, a black Mercedes-Benz. I sat down beside Xavier in the passenger's seat where he was behind the wheels, while Ariana had the back seat to herself.
"Guess you know how to act? You have to put up acts in front of my grandma" Xavier said a few minutes into the drive and I smiled.
"You can count on me" I said with confidence when I had never tried something like this before.
Ariana just sighed from the back seat with her face buried on her phone.
Xavier stopped at a store parking the car carefully and that made me wonder why we are stopping at electrical stores and not his Granny's house.
He got out of the car and came back a few minutes later with a small package in his hand. He got back into the car and tossed the small package to me, I caught it like a pro.
"What the hell is this?" I asked, staring at him.
"When you open it, you will find out" He said and I wasted no more minutes in opening the small package in my hand.
It had a phone in it, so I checked the small paper wrapping it for the name.
Iphone XR. I smiled. I have never heard of the name though. I used to have a phone but never saw this one before.
I turned the phone on and pressed some things on it, luckily for me, my smart self seems to know how to go about it.
"Thanks for this" I said to Xavier with a smile.
"I got you that because I figured out you're gonna need it" he said without facing me and I nodded.
Few minutes later, the car got to an estate where the gate was opened by a gatekeeper after bowing to Xavier. I watched as the car drove further into the estate.
I need no one to tell me that the whole building here belongs to their grandmother.
I could feel a sharp pain in my head and held on to it slightly, but then the headache faded immediately.
Soon the car pulled up in front of a big building, the biggest, most guarded and secured mansion of all.
We all got down and headed inside with me walking beside Xavier and Ariana walking behind us.
Getting into the mansion, I could see a lot of maids walking to and fro, it looked so busy unlike the quiet mansion I was living in with Xavier and Ariana.
They only had two maids and a cook but here there are so many of them.
We all walked to a room and Ariana opened the door walking in before us
"Grandma!!" She yelled and rushed to hug the old woman whose arms were already spread waiting for her to run into them.
They cuddled for a while and I could tell she didn't notice the two of us who were in the room or she just chose to ignore us for Ariana.
Soon they broke the hug and she faced me before turning her gaze to Xavier.
The old woman is beautiful, I could tell she's old but her face isn't, Ariana might have gotten some of her beauty from her.
"Granny, my girlfriend," Xavier said, placing his hand on my lower back immediately he said that.
I flinched at that touch and tried not to make It obvious that it was all an act.
Are we going to be going through touches like this at many occasions?? I thought to myself and covered my anxious face with a smile.
"Hi ma'am, I'm Laura" I said with a smile.
"Ariana, is he speaking the truth?" Granny just asked, ignoring my introduction. I felt neglected once again like I always had when I was in my parents home.
Whenever I tried to join in a conversation in the house, they would always shun me and when they didn't, I just got ignored.
"Yes Granny, she's his girlfriend, or maybe fiancee" Ariana said with a grin.
"Oh my!" Granny said standing up from where she was sitting and she came towards me hugging me tightly.
"I finally found you, I thought I wouldn't till I die" She yelled in a way that seems like she's reprimanding a lost child and it made me chuckle nervously.
She went to the landline by the table and put a call across to someone.
"Prepare me a feast, a grand one" She said and returned the line back to its place then walked to me again.
"I'm glad to have you here Laura" She said with a wide smile.
Maybe I was wrong about her being the craziest? Maybe she's actually the coolest?? I thought.
"Come take a seat" She said and motioned me to the couch in the room.
I walked over to the couch with Xavier following behind me, I felt the sudden pain on my head again and it made me lose balance but I was lucky that someone caught me. Xavier did.
Everyone was startled. "Are you okay?" Granny quickly asked.
"Yes I am" I said with a smile but maybe she didn't buy that.
"Get the family doctor, hurry! She's pregnant!!" Granny yelled.
The fuçk did she just say? "Pregnant??" I almost yelled.
