Vanessa was trying hard not to regret her decision to keep Buddy when she woke up the next morning to the stench of dog poop and urine.
The room was a mess, and as she turned on the light switch beside the bed to see just how bad the mess was, she groaned when her eyes fell on one leg of the shoe she had worn the previous day which Buddy had badly bitten or rather, chewed.
"Oh, no!" She muttered as she got off the bed and looked around the room for Buddy while trying not to step on either of the four mounds of poop the mutt had deposited on strategic locations around the bedroom.
"I think I know why your owner probably abandoned you now," she murmured, and felt a brief pang of guilt when she heard Buddy whine from under the bed.
She bent down to see what he was up to, and hissed in annoyance when she saw him gnawing at the second leg of her shoe. Oblivious to her annoyance, Buddy wagged his tail at her as he abandoned the shoe to greet her.
