The gathering point for the exam stood just outside the town's large stone walls at the base of the misty cloud mountain. Thousands upon thousands of young martial artists wiggled nervously as they awaited the moment the sect's masters would descend the mountain.

Li Jun and Shen Yun ushered their way to join the group. They had arrived late, not by accident. It was intended. They knew in advance what the first test would be, Master Shen had told them. It was the same test every year since the sect was established. It didn't depend on time or what order you arrived in, and it was fair enough that every martial artist under the age of twenty would have a chance to compete. However, this test also had the highest failure rate.
