Bab 609: Did Ella’s savior arrive?

The worry of being trapped and powerless consumed Ella's thoughts. She knew she was at Paul's mercy, and the realization filled her with dread.

Her mind wandered to Jasper, the only person who had always come to her aid when she was in trouble. She wondered if he would come to her rescue again, but the doubt lingering in her heart made her question whether he would even bother.

As she closed her eyes, images of Jasper's face flickered in her mind. She recalled the times he had saved her, the way he had protected her, and the comfort he had offered. But the uncertainty as to whether he would actually help her this time tainted those memories.

Ella couldn't help but long for Jasper. She was losing confidence that she could ever get away from here and see him once again. Still, she hoped against the hope that he would come like her hero and save her. Tears streamed down her cheeks, her lower lip quivering.
