After school today, I had told Qin Yin not to pick me up, but he showed up anyway. He said he'd take me out to dinner, and this time, we didn't go to a street stall; instead, he took me to an upscale Italian restaurant—the pricey kind.

When we got back home after dinner, Qin Yin took it upon himself to say he'd tutor me since the joint exams were just a few days away. He worried I might again achieve the outstanding result of finishing last in the entire school.

Qin Yin had a stern look on his face like a headteacher trying to get books out of my backpack, only to find it filled with snacks and not a single book in sight.

"You didn't bring your books home?" Qin Yin asked in surprise.

Lan Jin shook her head and continued to curl up on the sofa, ready to play video games. She replied offhandedly, "Didn't bring them."

"Don't you need to do homework? Aren't you afraid the teacher will check?" Qin Yin looked at the girl helplessly.
