Bab 24: Rules of household
Pulling away, Li Jie looked at her and sighed.
Not quite sure about that sigh, Zhang Xioaxi lifted her head up and gave him a questioning look.
Looking into her eyes, Li Jie smiled,
"I was just thinking about the changes you to my life in one day. You know when mom asked me to get married, I thought like every other match-making session, this one will also go away with time.
But I was wrong she was so stubborn and threatened me that she would leave the house. And later she cajoled me to get married. I was reluctant at first, but then I understood that there is nothing I can do make my mom happy other than getting married to you.
She never forced us. She always supported us in whatever way we choose. But then when it came to your matter, she was so stubborn that nothing worked.
And now I am happy that nothing worked, and I got you."
Without waiting for her answer, he continued,
"I know I have said it many times but somewhere in my heart there is this feeling that you know maybe you are the one I'm waiting for.
No pressure, that's just a weird feeling. but let's see what happens okay?"
"all I need is you being yourself and knowing me as I am"
Zhang Xioaxi looked into his eyes and took his hand then pulled him to sit on the bed,
"you know what, let's not about any feelings we are not sure about. Let's just go with the flow. "
"for now, we are comfortable with each other and like each other's company. Let's just stick to that and see what is going to happen alright?"
Listening to her, li Jie chuckled "this is the first time you tried to talk something without mumbling"
"hey, I am serious and here you are making fun of me" Zhang Xioaxi puffed her cheeks.
Li Jie raised both his hands in air "okay okay alright I won't make fun alright and I am also happy with your suggestion of going with the flow"
"alright, then let's stop talking about this weird closeness between us"- zhang Xiaoxi declared.
"ok everything my baby says goes"
"hey, you started it again, I am not your baby"
"okay let's not fight but you are my baby. At least I like to call you that. If you are not comfortable with it, I won't call you that way." – Li Jie
Fidgeting with her fingers, she mumbled "it's just that it feels weird when someone hears that and Yan always will be ready to tease me. If he hears you calling me baby, I don't know how he is gonna start pulling my leg."
"don't worry about Yan, if he teases you, I have ways that can help you tease him back alright."
Shifting a bit towards her he leaned closer and asked.
"so you don't have a problem with me calling you baby?"
"Li Jie if you keep on teasing me, I am going out and telling mom that you are bullying me"
"okay no more but just please tell me you don't have a problem with me calling you baby."- li Jie pleaded.
Shifting her eyes here and there, she blushed and nodded her head earning a chuckle from Li Jie.
"thank you, baby."
"you are so shameless. And exactly opposite how people describe you. Hmpf, I am going down to help mom."- Zhang Xioaxi got up.
Chuckling li Jie got up "let's go, you must be hungry." And guided her downstairs.
Downstairs:
"so you basically sold out your mother huhh? I should not have included you. You are good for nothing,"- glared mother Li at Li Yan.
"mom, I didn't say a word. brother Jie figured out everything and that yang fellow gave him all the information including the check I gave them. You can't blame me. I feel guilty now."
"you didn't say anything but when your brother asked did you deny it? Hell, NO!! and what does that mean?
Oh, let me think maybe your silence means that mom has nothing to do with it and it was all you who did it right?"-shouted mother Li.
Without waiting for his reply,
"Li Yan, get ready to go on a date with Angela tonight."
"mom, please you cannot do this to me please spare me this time. I don't want to get stuck with that devil now please please. I will do anything you ask me to do but not going on date with that devil please."- pleaded Li Yan who was on the verge of bursting into tears.
Angela is the daughter of Mother Li friends. She always had eyes on Li brothers. But too bad nothing worked out as these brothers are always cold and distant.
Li Yan is a bit interact-able when compared to Li Jie so she always thought she can have her way with him. But little did she know dealing with Li Yan is no piece of cake.
Li Yan always knew her thoughts, but he just tolerated her and her nothing covering clothes only to give face to their parent's friendship. But going on a date with her?
Doesn't that mean going into a hungry wolf den? He didn't want to get himself laid in that way and in her hands. He would rather work like a donkey and obey all of the mother Li orders rather than going on a date with Angela.
"nothing works, you have to go on a date with her and that's it." declared Mother Li.
"mom—"
"who is going on a date mom?"-asked Li Jie who is descending the stairs with Zhang Xioaxi.
"brother help me please. Mom wants me to go on a date with Angela"- complained Li Jun.
"that's a very good idea mom, and I think it will be better if we just arrange them to get engaged"- said Li Jie looking at Li Yan smirking.
"you – y-you both are bullying me. I am going to complain to dad."
Li Yan then turned to Father Li and pleaded.
"Dad please help me"
"oh no no monkey. Don't even try to come to me. You should know the first rule right?"
Wuwuwuwuwuwuwu
Li Yan didn't know where to go.
"what rule?" asked Zhang Xioaxi leaning towards Li Jie.
Without answering her, he turned to Li Yan and asked
"Yan, Xioaxi wants to know about the rule. Can you recite it to her?"
