Bab 140: Flirting with a Vampire

Fanfar smiled, despite his pulse racing like a trapped bird. He strummed his guitar, the melody light and playful, designed to draw Jasper in. His fingers danced over the strings, creating a hypnotic tune that carried an air of mischief and charm. The music encircled them, slicing through the mist and shattered city like a delicate thread.

Jasper tilted his head, his pink eyes narrowing with interest. "That... is quite beautiful," he murmured, his voice lower now, laced with an unfamiliar softness. He took a step closer, his footprints' glow dimming slightly as if he succumbed to the spell.

Fanfar's voice joined the melody, light and teasing, like a breeze over a still lake.

"Oh, the hunter prowls the silent night,

Chasing shadows under pale moonlight.

But beware, sweet hunter, tread with care.

For the prey you seek has a song to snare."

Jasper chuckled, a deep, velvety sound. "Such poetry. Do you think you can charm me, little minstrel?"
