The turquoise glow of the dragon's eyes moved steadily forward like twin beacons piercing the darkness. The mist enveloped his ethereal form, shrouding it in an aura of otherworldly menace.
"I warned you once," the dragon growled, his tone was deep and echoing. "Release them now, or be prepared for the fallout."
The dark fairies hesitated, their crooked smiles trembling with suspicion. They looked at each other, their self-confidence shaken.
"He's bluffing," one hissed. "No creature of the mist can harm us."
The dragon's shape changed slightly, its translucent claws scraping the ground, leaving snowy tracks. The sudden drop in temperature caused ice to form on the edges of the fairies' delicate wings. Crunching sounds could be heard in their increasingly slower wingbeats.
"Am I bluffing?" The dragon chuckled, the sound echoing like distant avalanches. "Then come closer. Test your theory."
