Bab 421: His penitence

A little girl hid behind the walls, trying to peep into the room. Several children could be seen listening to their teacher as she goes on and on about their history.

The four-year-old yearned to be part of them. To learn freely without being punished for her curiosity. Her innocent mind never understood why she couldn't.

While her agemates go to class, she was taken to the kitchen to help with the chores. Her long hair was messy and filled with knots. 

Her beautiful face was smeared with different things that gave her a homeless look. Even the clothes she wore symbolized her treatment.

Inside the room, another child looked around sensing her sister's presence. Mariam frowned when she saw Maimuna hiding behind the door.

She disliked her sister because everyone else did. Whenever she tried to get along with her, she would be scolded.
