Bab 58: Battle of Geonosis(part 2)
The red sands of Geonosis stretched endless in front of Jack. After taking control of the space above the Mandalorians had proceeded to land their troops with out much interference. The battle above had altered the ground forces on the planet, but there was not much they could do with out and air support to stop the landings.
Jack's armies had multiple targets and goals to achieve in the start of this war. They need to take control of the major droid factory of the planet as well as capture or kill all the hive queens here. Lastly they needed to capture any of the leadership they may or may not be planetside. Jack tasked Blue team with the capture of any HVTs.
He left Windu in charge of capturing the factories while he would go after the hive queens. Which is where he now finds himself as he focuses his attention to the now massing army of Geonosians droids in front of one of the many spires on the planet. Jack's army was the smallest between him and Windu.
However he took with him the most of the elites in his army. Along with his order of Knights the odds where looking more in his favor. Jack focused him self for the coming fight. "Wait are you men wanting on. Don't you want to live forever!" With that Jack lead the attack followed by his men.
Space battles where one thing but ground war was another beast all on it's on. A well placed laser or bullet would end just about anyones existence, and with a flat plain and no cover for this battle field. The battle that ensued turned into a grind house.
Jack moved ahead of his troops force pulling a few hundred droids to him and raising them into the air. One of his knight then used force lighting and fried the group that Jack had spended in the air. Jack then used the smoldering wreckage of the droids as cover for his troops as they advanced. Blaster fire and bullets where wizing throughout the battle field. His knights saw his actions and also followed suit creating more cover for the advancing troops.
Jack had his knights cover any group of troops that were advancing forward to the enemy lines. Spotting a large group of Super battle droids advancing and a group that was pinned down by cross fire. Jack tapped into another darkside ability force crush.
Right in the middle of the droids a small blackhole appeared and drew in all the surrounding droids and compressed them into a metal ball all within a matter of seconds. Jack then forced jump into the middle of the enemy lines igniting his lightsaber and began to tear through his opposition.
It did not matter who or what stood in his way as droids and Geonosian all meet there end in front of him. Still the enemy did out number his troops and even with the force he was but one man against a tide of enemies.
The enemy force slowly started to surround Jack's forces, but for Jack all of this was going according to plan as he had his mechanized infantry circle around the battle field to hammer the enemy from behind. The Geonosians did not realized that they had been flanked until the first tank shell found purchase into the back of a droideka. Exploding the droid and kill a few unfortunately Geonosians that had been around it using it for cover.
The tanks hammered into the unprotected backs of the enemy completely destroying any formation they had been holding, and breaking the encirclement that the Geonosians where placing on the Mandalorians. With one side being destroyed the Federation tanks took this chance to enter the battle field. Hellfire rockets soared through the air taking out a few Scorpion tanks in the process.
Through their armor had give on the Federation some breathing room it would not last long as more and more of the Mandalorians troops where starting to focus on one side of the battlefield. The Federation troops started to fall back to the spire to take up defensive positions.
Jack who was in the middle of fighting notices when his enemies began to thin out saw the action taken by the Federation, and called out to his knights to advance on their positions. If they made it back to the spire then this fight would increase in difficulty. Before the knights could give chase the Scorpion tank divison opened fire on the retreat forces cutting off their path of retreat.
With no option other than to advance the Federation steeled them self and returned to the battle field. At this point however the winner of this battle had already been decided the moment they turned to retreat. With in a matter of minutes the last droid fell on the field and Jack had his army reform and surround the spire. He had suffered some losses but it was within acceptable rang.
Still to insure that more of his men survived Jack knew he needed to end most fights as quickly and strategically as possible. As Jack slowly approached the entrance to the spire he felt a strong presence in the force. Along with several others who where not as strong but could still pose a significant threat.
Turing to his knights they confirmed that they sensed it as well. Jack ordered his troops to remain outside and surround the structure. Taking only a group of 30 Mandalorian Spartans with his as support. The group entered the spire in order to confront what ever for awited them inside.
The inside structure of the spires was like a honeycomb. It seemed almost completely hollow with an unknown number of chambers that started from the bottom and continued to the very top. They had entered into some type of great hall at some point during the journey inside. In this large hall Jack spotted a firgure he was very familiar with as well as several smaller firgures.
"Darth Maul you seem a tab different than I remember...did you get shorter." Jack said with sarcasm dripping in his voice. Maul snarled, " You did this to me you filth. To keep me alive they had to rebuild half off my body, but thanks to that I am much stronger than I have ever been before."
Maul looked just as he did during the clone wars. With his lower have now being prosthetic and made of metal. As interesting as Maul was Jack attention was drawn to the other firgures in cloaks the room. He once again came arcoss a face that seem familiar to his but he could not quite place it.
Maul noticed who Jack was looking at and smiled, " Ahh I think you have been discovered by your old friends. Why not take this opportunity to show them what you have learned in the short time that you have been away."
The smaller of the two stepped forward and removed the hood that had been blocking their face. Jack was surprised to see former jedi Vam standing next to Maul. However much of his face had been disfigured and one of his arms had been replaced by a prosthetic. Whatever he had been through in the last month or so had completely changed the man in front of him.
Soon the other firgures started to un cloak to relieve themselves. The group were a mixture of Jedi who had left the order and Nightsisters. Jack knew something must be up as even with all of this force users on Maul's side he was still heavily out numbered at this moment. So Jack reasoned that this group in front of him was meant to stall for time or lure him into to committing his forces.
Instead of falling completely for the trap Jack instead broke off with 19 members of his knights and they would face this group of force users while the rest still search for the Geonosian Queen that was suppose to be inside the spire.
Maul watches as the two groups broke off and focused solely on Jack and his group. " Good I am glad that you decided to stay. I have so many things I need to pay you back for and so little time to do so." Maul ignited his saber as the rest of his followers did the same. Jack stared the Zabrack down, " This time Maul when I kill you I will make sure you stay dead."
