Bab 31: Chapter 31

<p style="direction: ltr;">~Talfen, capital of Coldshore~

~The King's Palace~

Reqiel's entourage were directed to a palace in the inner court. There was a stark difference between the inner court and the outer court; the inner court was opulence personified but Reqiel hardly paid attention to it which was no surprise considering where he had lived in all his life.

Sarell had quickly become familiar with the new set of servants given to them by the royalty of Mistbourne, the red haired Angel quick to give orders as soon as they got to their assigned palace.

Reqiel had to freshen up to pay a visit to the King and Queen and Coldshore; his little stunt at one of the gates had ruffled his robes and sent his already wild hair into a fritz. He also had to be changed out of his traveling robes after a quick bath.

Sarell already knew that handling Reqiel while they were on Earth would be the ultimate test of his limits, but it would have been far better still if they had remained in Mistbourne.

At least the King there knew that Reqiel was an Angel so a lot of his discrepancies could be overlooked but not here. They were practically on the other side of Earth and the Royalty of Coldshore thought that Reqiel was human royalty from Mistbourne, there would be no such luxuries.

"After I pay a visit to the King and Queen, am I free to wander around?" Reqiel asked with hopeful deep blue eyes, his outer robes down around his shoulders.

Sarell was torn, he really wanted Reqiel to get some more rest but he knew that if he didn't give him permission to, the willful Prince would just sneak out and that was the worst case scenario.

This wasn't the Celestial Realm where he wouldn't be able to get beyond the Royal Mount. He shivered to think of what would happen to him if the Prince went missing.

"Very well but…" He cut off Reqiel's sounds of glee.

Reqiel waited patiently to hear his conditions, it didn't matter what he had to do; he had been beyond shocked when Sarell allowed his request. If he remained on his best behavior, he could even get to check out the city.

"You have to take a nap before then and I'll come with you."

"Deal." Reqiel agreed without hesitation, allowing his servants to undress him.

Thankfully, humans were gentler with bath brushes; he decided then that he didn't miss Mivan or the other attendants back in the Celestial Realm.

He could hear them marveling over his hair and skin, Sarell standing proud like he was the one getting complimented.

"Please don't." Reqiel stopped his personal attendant before he could go on an endless spiel about how they had achieved his snow white skin and glowing gold hair.

Angels prized beauty, it didn't matter the gender so it must have come off as a double shock to humans who had never seen a male look like that.

The robes that Reqiel was dressed in were far lighter than his walking robes back in the Celestial Realm; he never walked though, it was all semantics.

Even more reason to love Earth. If his official robes were this light, it meant that he would be allowed out in a simple inner shirt and pants when he wanted to actually go walking.

And there were no wings! He had never felt freer.

A servant hurried over with an invitation for Reqiel; The King of Coldshore requested his presence.

Sarell was gradually noticing the lax rules that humans had, it was paradise for him because he didn't have to constantly worry about a thousand and one things that could go horribly wrong.

The servant that had been sent to invite them led the way to the throne room, scurrying forward with his hands in front of him like a pangolin.

Behind him, Reqiel walked regally, without his wings to worry about, he actually cut an impressive figure.

The King in Mistbourne had already made clothes ready for him before he came and he had done it in the style of fashion in Coldshore so he didn't stand out like a sore thumb.

Sarell was skilled in taming his wild hair, bounding it into a high ponytail; a thin gold band rested on his forehead, a far cry from the weighty crowns he wore in the Celestial Realm.

Sarell walked behind him, also dressed in robes fit for the personal servant of a Prince; the rest of the servants scurried behind him, their monochrome robes bland.

The main palace was stately, positioned right at the center of the inner court; there were roofed paths that lead to the building on all sides, aesthetically pleasing gardens and ponds arranged thoughtfully in a way that enhanced the beauty of the palace.

The guards opened the doors to let them in, the servant that had been leading the way directing them through a maze of hallways before stopping in front of a pair of ceiling high, ornate doors.

He bowed away at this point, ushering them forward.

Reqiel unconsciously straightened his back, it felt like he was going to pay his father a visit.

The large doors were swung open, someone announcing him from within. He strode forward, keeping his posture straight; all of his tutor's teachings had culminated to this moment, because he actually listened to them, he just didn't practice what he had been taught with his wings out.

Right in front of him were the King and Queen, they were seated on large gold thrones, two smaller thrones on either side of them.

Reqiel wasn't intimidated, his father wouldn't be able to fit in any of the thrones. He had been briefed about the Royalty ruling Coldshore, King Holdred, a large beefy man who was a good ruler and a benevolent King to his people.

His dainty wife, Queen Myla was a little sickly and spent all of her time indoors but the Kingdom adored her nonetheless.

The Crown Prince, Cederic who was seated on his father's right side was the epitome of the successor to the throne. Big bodied and skillful with the sword just as his father had been.

Then the Princess Aethel, the joy and pride of the Kingdom, her beauty was rumored far and wide to be enough to blind men.

It was to these people that Reqiel dropped regally down on one knee, his head bowed as he paid his respects to the King.
