After the ghost disappeared, dissipating into a cloud of smoke as he retreated into the painting, Lin FenXiang just sat slumped against the door, touching his neck as he tried to stabilize his breathing for a long time, unable to make a sound.

Thankfully, he had the switchblade with him. If not for the blessed weapon, the Marquess of Wales wasn't sure whether he would still have his skin intact by the end of the night.

Lin FenXiang closed his eyes, drawing short breaths as the silent room resonated with sound of his violently beating heart. The crisis had been averted, albeit temporarily. At least, the ghost — or the painting — shouldn't be too dangerous for the time being.

At least until the day of confrontation inevitably came.

After a long while, Lin FenXiang opened his eyes, staring straight at the gauze covered painting on the wall in front of him, he bit his lips and suppressed a grunt that threatened to leave him.
