Yan Hansheng reared back, blushing heavily as his breath hitched in his throat. Raising his eyes to glare at the painter, he whispered. “Do-don't do that,” he all but squeaked, reflexively swatting away Lin FenXiang's hand.

Maybe he used too much force in the action, because the painter hissed, pulling his hand away. Before Yan Hansheng could say anything in apology, Lin FenXiang raised his hands in surrender and laughed.

“You give a mean slap, Hansheng.“

Yan Hansheng did not. He was embarrassed of himself for not controlling his hand in time and mindlessly slapping Lin FenXiang's hand.

“I'm so—”

“Nuh-uh,” Lin FenXiang interrupted him, shaking his head with his eyes closed. “I just wanted to give you a gift and this is how you react.“ He pretended to be hurt as he cradled his hand. “I'm so hurt. No one appreciates me, no one.“
