Alexa stared at the array of food on the breakfast bar one more time. Though they consisted more of Emilia's food they had brought from the manor, she had made a few specials of hers.

They didn't taste as great as Emilia's, but she was certain Christopher wouldn't choke on them. She might not have some culinary mastery skills, but she could make a little magic —the twisted downside of losing her mother at her tender age.

She had learned to take care of herself after her mother's death because the unfortunate parent she had left showed no sign of doing so.

She stuffed a waffle between her teeth and picked up her phone.
