Bab 57: Double Trouble I

Irwin adores the Blood Scry spell.

Its versatility focusing on a path of scrying outweighs its every single weakness. It was the perfect spell for me or any hunter that had the ability to cast the spell. Unfortunately, one would need an above average affinity with Human Magic or, in his case, the highest affinity in the Natural Order, to even said spell.

In one such case of exemplifying his love for the spell, He, Sam, Dean, and Andrew, who preferred to be called Andy, were searching for a monster to hunt.

As traditional hunters in a modern world, Sam took to his laptop, intent on finding any weird deaths or phenomena in the state, while Dean, having just broken his entire body, thought to scour the land in search of monsters or, as he puts it, chicks to lay rest. He meant that as a double entendre, one that earned a weary sigh from his brother.

Andy, however, took the research portion of the hunt talking with Tracy, his crush. By the look on his face soon after, Andy seemed to have unburdened himself with something that has been weighing on his shoulder for years.

Six hours after his creation of the warding, Irwin, now well rested and refreshed thanks to his enhanced physique, messaged them the meet-up location.

The three men converged upon Guthrie Square where Irwin was waiting inside of a donut shop. His table, once bedecked with pastries of various varieties, now lay asunder by the starving maw of the witch of Greythorne Manor.

A black Impala parked in front of the store, whereupon three men exited the car and entered the store.

Dean's eyes glowed when he saw the left-over donuts, quickly grabbing the last piece.. "What? You couldn't save some for me?"

"No. We'll go as soon as I finish the spell." Irwin replied as he swatted Dean's hand.

As soon as the two fought for the piece, Sam saw his opportunity and grabbed the last piece for himself, a smile plastered on his face. "Suckers. You're gonna do the spell here?"

From the looks on the brother's faces, they were not that appreciative of a witch casting a spell with civilians around.

'They don't accept my powers, merely tolerating it since I haven't done anything to harm them or any civilian,' Irwin surmised as he gave a soft smile. "In the bathroom. This place is the closest area to the industrial and residential areas of the city, so my spell range can track down more people."

"Alright. Is it harmless?" Sam asked. He took out a vial of blood from his jacket pocket and placed it on the table.

"Yes. In fact, the only thing painful here is the headache of maintaining the spell." He joked to lighten the mood, pocketing the vial. "I'll start, so start up the car and wait for me."

Irwin entered the bathroom of the donut shop and locked the door before taking out the vial and his newly bought handheld mirror.

"Ostende mihi hoc sanguine propius…"

Pouring the blood, Irwin's eyes glowed purple as he invigorated the magik dwelling within him as the spell took effect on the blood of a vampire.

A spherical wave of lightless energy surges out of the mirror, breaking it in half. The wave soon returned to the mirror as multiple blood marks appeared on Irwin's vision.

He concentrated on the blood marks with a larger and deeper crimson color, for that would signify multiple supernatural entities gathered in a singular area. He identified a mark as red as the blood he used on the edge of his spell radius and guessed that they would be where most defunct factories were located.

It was with ease and light traffic that the Impala traveled through the city, mostly in thanks to Andy's expert direction, as he had lived in the city throughout his life.

Irwin was right on his guess as they turned another right, revealing a series of worn and torn industrial factories from a century ago. The city, having neither the budget nor political aspiration to clean up this area, had left it festering and rot not only by the erosion of time, but the dredges of criminal activity and homelessness.

As such, an ideal home for the abominations of humanity.

"Stop by that rusty gate." Irwin could see the blood marks converging into one bulbous shape instead of a normal globule one.

"Yeah, there's about seven rusty gates here." Dean chortled, parking the car next to the gate. "This it?"

"This doesn't look like a vampire's nest, man." Andy remarked, now wearing a button-up shirt over his moss green plaid jacket and tight jeans.

Irwin smiled, dismissing the Blood Scry spell. "What were you expecting?"

"I was expecting… a castle, really."

Sam and Dean chuckled.

"Me too, man. Me too." Sam muttered as he exited the car with Dean as Irwin and Andy followed suit.

Dean opened the trunk of the Impala, revealing the cache of weapons that they had amassed over the years. Blades, guns, gris-gris bags, and a grenade launcher appeared before their eyes.

"Finally!" Dean grinned, joy evident on his face as he reached for the grenade launcher. Unfortunately for him, his brother killed his child-like grin.

"No, Dean. We need the bodies." Sam admonished, going for a machete. "Also, the cops will be here the minute that grenade explodes."

"Damn it!" Dean scoffed before going for another machete and a sawed-off shotgun.

"Uh, w-what do I pick?" Andy asked, eyes nearly glazing over the mobile armory.

Dean snorted amusedly, shaking his head. "You… will get nothing, alright? We're here for two things: Richard's juju crap for his spell and to check if your ESP thing works on monsters."

"What? C'mon! Not even a-a butter knife?" Andy became nervous, but a warm hand enveloped his shoulder as Irwin gave him a smile.

"Don't worry, Andy. I'll be protecting you." Irwin said. While the brothers took simple weapons and guns, he, however, took out his silver sword sheathed in its newly-seeded scabbard.

As Irwin clasped the scabbard around his torso, Dean remarked with awe in his voice. "What the hell is that? Can I have one?"

"Family treasure, I'm afraid. One of a kind."

Dean clicked his tongue. "Our only family treasure is the Impala."

"What to switch?" Irwin grinned at the opportunity.

Dean scoffed. "Hell, no!"

The group entered through the rusty gate, easily opening it up with a bolt cutter. The desolate surroundings and silent factory would convince Irwin that they made a wrong choice if not for the spell identifying a large give of blood-sucking monsters inside.

There were two visible entrances, one of the main gate with a large hole in the left and another on the upper western side, where the delivery gates were locked with a single chain link.

"Which one do you want to take?" Asked Irwin, equipping thick gloves with padded knuckles as he limbered up his legs.

"Let's warm-up. We'll take the front entrance." Dean decided with a smirk, earning a snort from his brother.

"C'mon, man." Sam shook his head, following his brother as he strode forward. He looked back for a brief moment. "We'll meet up in the center. Be careful."

Irwin and Andy went to the left of the factory where delivery trucks used to load their cargo as the illumination from the sun went from bright to dim. A large tarpaulin covered the once opened-air delivery station, preventing the sunlight from passing through.

To their surprise, two young men in thrasher clothing smoking a cigarette, a broken skateboard beside the eldest of the two. They were sitting on a raised metal platform next to wooden pallets and empty paper boxes.

"Oh, well, that's easy." Irwin laughed softly as he waved at them to gain their attention. "Hey! Are you guys blood-sucking, mindless vampires?"

The eldest, a fair-skinned young adult, sporting a goatee, spat saliva to the insult. "What the fuck did you say, bitch?"

"You're in a dangerous neighborhood, rich boy. I don't think he knows that, Jethro." His younger companion, a dark-skinned young man in a shoulder-length cornrow.

"Am I? My apologies. I was just looking to kill some abominations. You know what I mean, right? Vampires are nothing but mindless fucktards. They need to die, no… they need to suffer before they die." Irwin taunted once more, earning their anger.

Jethro roared in anger, showing off his sharp fangs and dagger-like claws. He rushed forward, still atop the metal platform, and jumped towards Irwin in a bid to tear him apart.

Irwin, who knowingly aggravated the vampire, bent his knees and extended his left hand as he reached for the hilt of his silver sword with his right hand. In one fluid motion, Irwin unsheathed the blade and twisted his wrist as the tip of the blade met the torso of the flying vampire.

His grip on the blade loosened as he let the tip pierce through the vampire's soft skin, plunging itself deeper than Jethro's momentum lowered himself. A streak of blood splattered through the air as the blade carved deeper into Jethro's abdomen and bisecting his pelvis in half.

Jethro landed a few feet away, a trail of blood following him as he crashed onto the cracked concrete floor. A pool of crimson liquid soon surrounded his broken body, his vampiric physique trying hard to regenerate the heaviest of his wounds, to no avail.

"Rookie…" Irwin clicked his tongue as if to mutter that it was a shame. He gazed back at Jethro's companion and gave him a soft smile, his left hand going into his jacket pocket. "Your friend is dying. You have two choices here… either try to save him by giving him our blood or… run inside and call for your clan. Which is it, then? Friendship or self-preservation?"

The young vampire chose the latter, which Irwin predicted as he took out his left hand and chanted, "Flagello!"

No newly born vampire could outrun the speed and might of the Flaming Whip as the young vampire's foot got ensnared by the azure flames, scorching his ankles and burning his loose pants.

Irwin willed the whip to bring back the young vampire. It yelped and screamed for help, but the whip scraped its body against the metal platform. As he flew into the air, Irwin swung his silver sword upwards and bisected the vampire from his waist.

Blood, guts, and excrement splattered through the air, marking the surrounding area a veritable tableau of the human condition. The vampire's first half, consisting of his torso and head, landed and rolled onto the ground near a terrified Andy, while its second half landed on some wooden pallets above the platform.

A touch of blood smeared like dotted lines across Irwin's face, his expression a mask of neutrality as sheathed his stainless blade.

He disregarded the dying wails of the younger vampire as he addressed Andy's trembling body.

"Andy. Get working!"
