When students reached the familiar gymnasium arena with the sandy ground and a few rock tiled platforms in the shape of a square. They saw professor Ventus standing there waiting for them with the training dummy already standing on a rock platform.
"Alright we'll do this in the same order as yesterday, come on up Rudd."
Rudd the young man who went and hit the dummy first yesterday walked up on the platform and stood in front of the dummy.
"Alright the goal is to defend and try to last as long as possible while the dummy attacks you. You also instantly win if you cause the dummy outside the platform area. You all know first hand how durable it is, so don't try to just damage it, try to survive."
A few people had a look of fear, getting hit by that insanely durable dummy would definitely hurt like hell.
"Ready... set... go."
Professor Ventus said slowly, the dummy immediately rushed toward Rudd and threw a overhand right punch, Rudd barely reacted but used his twist to turn his arms into a shield. Rudd had the Twist to turn his body into any melee weapon. He blocked the punch but he fell backward by the force of the punch and slid a few meters, he landed on his back and quickly looked to find the dummy standing above him trying to soccer kick him. He couldn't react in time and deep fear was evident in his eyes.
"That's enough."
Professor Ventus called out, the dummy stopped his kick a few inches from Rudd's face and then walked back to his side.
"Good job you lasted 2 seconds. that's quadruple the average."
Although most of the time was the time it took for the dummy to close the distance from the start of the fight to when Rudd was sent back.
'Most people probably get defeated by the first punch and couldn't defend or dodge in time. Rudd has a good twist for defense so he blocked the first punch.'
Arthur thought while examining the dummy. Everyone else but 5 people went. The lowest time was 0.5 seconds and some did better than Rudd, the highest was 3 seconds. The person who scored the lowest didn't have a twist compatible with dodging or blocking and the person who scored the highest had an agility twist.
It was Cordelia's turn, the blue haired calm girl stepped up and was ready, when the dummy started moving, she immediately dropped water all around her and the water streamed out. The dummy stopped before entering the water radius, running at that speed while the floor was wet would be a disaster as it would slip instantly.
'The Ai of the dummy is really good, it made a good call.'
Arthur thought while trying to figure out the decision making skills and thoughts of the Ai. Cordelia started making and firing small water bullets. Around 6 water bullets were being shot out every second, while the water bullets were being shot out she made the water around her to rise about 5 meters. It looked like a cylinder of water was just staying there without anything holding actually holding it from flowing out. She created a cylinder of water around her, the dummy would have to step through the water to reach her.
The dummy stopped for a second while just standing there tanking the water bullets that did no damage, he circled around the cylinder to make sure she was completely surrounded, he then ran to the edge of the platform, then everyone heard it's robotic voice.
"Permission to enter stage 2."
"Permission granted."
Professor Ventus said while nodding and smiling.
Arthur saw the changes that were happening to the robot with his Mana read twist.
'It's finally using mana.'
The robot began strengthening it's already tough and fast body, it got ready then rushed at Cordelia who was completely surrounded by water 10 meters tall and thick. Before this happened Cordelia quite nervous about what the second stage would entail lowered the water Cylinder to her height but extended it's radius so that the dummy would have to go through more water to get to her.
*Swoosh*
*Splashhhhh!*
Wind was heard and a huge sound of water being slapped, then the water cylinder that was 10 meters in circumference instantly flew the opposite direction of where the dummy was standing. With it using mana strengthening, it instantly closed the distance before anyone could blink and slapped the water so fast and hard the force and wind that was carried by the slap pushed all the water away. Cordelia was pushed with the force of the water being pushed back, before professor Ventus used her Aerokinesis to float her before she slammed her head on the ground.
'She instinctively held her breath but when in the water she couldn't keep her breath and started drowning, that's probably her draw back, any water she made she's unable to hold her breath or swim in.'
Arthur used his Mind reading twist to connect to Cordelia's mind. To copy an ability he had to use one sentence attempt of his mind reading to guess the ability. If the guess was wrong he would be 1 sentence down. But if the guess was right then the restriction of the number of sentences he could mindread on that person would be gone and he would successfully copy their ability.
'Hydrokinesis, with the drawback being that any water being controlled or created by the user would not allow the user to hold their breath that water.'
Because of the nature of the ability he had to be every specific or it would be wrong. Arthur waited for 3 seconds before trying one more time. He had 4 more attempts.
'Hydrokinesis, with the drawback being that any water being controlled or created by the user, would not allow the user to breath or swim in said water.'
*Click*
Arthur heard a click like he lock picked a door, because of his constant experimentations over the past 8 years he already had all 5 twist spots filled out and he had to replace one. He would happily do so and gain this strong twist. The choice was easy, other than his Aerokinesis and mana reading, twists the other 3 were useless twists that he just never had the chance to get rid of. He got rid of the twist which allowed him to create light from his fingertips as bright as a small flashlight. He unhesitatingly replaced that twist for Cordelia's Hydrokinesis.
Professor Ventus made sure Cordelia was okay. The dummy then announced the result.
"12 seconds."
It said, everyone was impressed with her display of genius, to create a cylinder of water around her to create 10 meters of water between her and her opponent was genius. It would be incredibly hard to bypass.
Arthur walked up to Cordelia.
'Because I copied her twist I feel like I owe her something. '
"It was smart to create a large area of water around you to stop the dummy from advancing. But next time either get out of it from the back without being noticed and then plan your next move or, when hit with a strong attack like that, disperse the energy by using the water to move the same direction as the attack, kind of like moving your neck with the punch to not take the damage."
Arthur said while looking at her lying on the floor completely wet before he walked back to his spot while looking at the dummy with his arms crossed.
Cordelia looked at him with surprise before giving him a small nod.
