Bab 15: Workaholic
Han Chen took a deep breath as he noticed Yang Liu awake, reminding himself to keep his distance. With a calm demeanor, he stepped back, cradling Han Wei in his arms as they walked toward the house.
Yang Liu watched Han Chen's back, placing a hand over her racing heart. The unexpected closeness had startled her, and she couldn't shake the thought, "That man almost kissed me." Letting out a sigh of relief, she mused, "A handsome man really can be dangerous for my health."

As she got out of the car and followed him toward the house, she whispered to herself, "I'd better keep treating him just as my boss. No need to worry; I can't let that face tempt me."
But deep down, another thought flickered through her mind, Well, he could have kissed me... She shook her head, scolding herself, Stop it, Yang Liu! Just then, a cold breeze swept past, snapping her back to reality. With renewed determination, she strode confidently toward the entrance, pushing away the flutter of emotions that threatened to distract her.
Butler Ling noticed his boss entering with the young master in his arms. He turned back and asked, "Master, where's the madame?"
Han Chen met Butler Ling's gaze, responding slowly, "She's coming along. You can go ahead; we already had dinner." With that, he turned and headed upstairs toward Han Wei's room.
Butler Ling watched his boss ascend the stairs, scratching his head in confusion. "He seems a bit off tonight... Must be my imagination," he muttered to himself.
When Yang Liu walked through the door, she smiled upon seeing Butler Ling. Playfully, she said, "Were you waiting for me, Butler Ling?" and gave him a cheeky wink.
Butler Ling chuckled at her playful demeanor. "I'm about to rest, madame; I was just waiting for you."
Yang Liu smiled back, her spirits lifted. "Thanks for all your help! I'm heading upstairs to rest now." With a grin, Butler Ling nodded and headed off to relax.
As Yang Liu passed by Han Wei's room, she noticed the door was closed. "Hmm, I guess Han Chen is putting him to bed," she thought to herself, a small smile tugging at her lips.
Entering her room, she took a quick shower to wash away the day and then climbed into bed. An hour later, she drifted off to sleep, surrendering to the quiet of the night.
Meanwhile, Han Chen bypassed his own room and headed straight to his home office, feeling the weight of unfinished business. As he sat down and powered on his laptop, he glanced at the clock, which read 1:00 AM. A sense of urgency washed over him as he typed out a quick message to the executive group.
"Meeting in 10 minutes."
Though most of the executives were asleep at that hour, the sound of the special ringtone reserved for their workaholic boss jolted them awake, sending them scrambling to grab their laptops.
Secretary Jian was the first to stumble into the meeting, bleary-eyed and yawning. He noticed that no one else was present yet, just him and the boss, and ventured, "Boss, weren't you supposed to have dinner with your family?"
Han Chen raised an eyebrow, his tone flat as he replied, "I already had dinner."
Jian scratched his messy hair in disbelief and asked, "But sir, shouldn't you be in bed with your wife?"
The piercing look Han Chen shot him silenced Jian, sending a chill down his spine. The young secretary felt a pang of sympathy for Yang Liu, realizing she couldn't even enjoy a decent evening with her workaholic husband.
As the seconds ticked by in the heavy silence, Han Chen's thoughts turned inward, wrestling with the weight of his responsibilities and the growing realization that he had built walls around his heart that were becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.
