Bab 2: Battle Of Christophsis
I took off my helmet and looked around.
I spotted the usual high-fade hair that most clones used.
Looking around, none of the clones even looked at me and got straight to work.
After about 3 minutes a Clone came running up to me.
"Lieutenant! A red ray shield has been spotted enveloping the Seperatist base, they've gotten close to our scouts." He said, I took out my binocular and looked towards them.
He was correct, the first scout outpost was about to get enveloped.
I did not have time to call Rex or Anakin so I turned to the clone.
"Order the 1st through 4th forward scouts to retreat. Prepare the men on the other outposts to retreat as well. Their ray shields makes our artillery useless." I said. The clone saluted me before running off.
I pressed my comms on button and connected it to Rex's frequency.
"Captain, the scouts have spotted a large ray shield, it's diameter is slowly growing, they're soon to envelop the forward scouts. I ordered them to retreat." I spoke into my gauntlets.
After a few seconds he responded.
"Good job, Lieutenant Vaughn. Take an eye-witness and join us in the forward command centre." He said.
"Yes, Captain!" I returned before he shut off his comms.
I turned to one of the clones.
"You, follow me. You'll debrief the Generals." I said before I began jogging towards the Forward Command Centre.

We arrived just in time for Obi-Wan to open up the holographic map.
"Good, you got here in time, Lieutenant." Cody spoke.
"Thank you, Commander. Specialist Fore here can debrief you on the specifics." I said before Fore began talking.
As he was done he went away.
I half-heartedly expected them to send me away as well but I was not sent away.
"When they get closer, I suppose we could draw them into the building. That might level the playing field." Obi-Wan said.
I knew this was not the time for me to speak, I would be happy with just staying here for now.
"If that shield is gonna be such a problem, why don't we just take it out?" Ahsoka asked.
"Easier said than done." Rex said, but I could not deny the fact that she had a point.
"Well, I, for one agree with her." Anakin said. I could see that he had serious problems in agreeing with her.
Though I don't know why as they just met.
"Someone has to get that shield generator and destroy it. That's the key." Anakin said after a bit of pause.
"Right then, maybe you two can tiptoe through the enemy lines and solve this particular problem." Obi-Wan said, although his face was stoic we could all agree he was having fun.
"Can do, Master Kenobi." Ahsoka said, happy to get experience.
Anakin took insult to that as he said.
"I'll decide what we do."
"If the Clones and I can engage them here, you two might have a chance to get through their lines undetected, here." Obi-Wan said, pointing to a building near a bridge.
"They won't have much time. The droids far outnumber us." Rex said. "They'll increase the diameter of the shield until they're right on top of the artillery, and blow them away." Rex said.
I looked at the hologram carefully before an idea entered my mind.
"I can keep them occupied for a bit." I said while looking at the building.
"Oh? Got a plan, Lieutenant Vaughn?" Obi-Wan asked as he stood up, intrigued.
"I suppose your men have used their thermal detonators already, but my Platoon still have ours, one of my men have taken explosive lessons, we could blow down the building onto on the tanks." I said as I pointed at the building.
"They can blow through it easily, but it should buy us 5 minutes to organise a proper defense." I said, and with that Obi-Wan smiled.
"Sounds like a plan, Lieutenant." Obi-Wan said.
"We'll deal with the generator. Come on, Master." Ahsoka said before beginning to tiptoe away, Anakin said something in response but I didn't bother listening.
"Alright, Lieutenant, you'll explode the building on the droids after Captain Rex has held on long enough for Anakin to get through, we'll then fall back to Cody's position. Sounds good?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Yes, General."
"Yes, General"
"Understood."
The "Understood" came from Rex and the two others from me and Cody.
And with that I ran off while pressing the device on my ComLink.
"Tyr, gather all the men at the first line, make sure they bring all their thermal detonators as well." I said while running.
"Understood, Lieutenant." The response was before I cut it.
It was quite the run from the command centre to the furthermost line.
It took close to 10 minutes of jogging before I reached it.
As I arrived the men were also gathering, the temporary clone barracks was close to it.
After all 40 men were accounted for, we began running.
I could almost see Skywalker and Ashoka on top of the building, but only my inbuilt sensor told me that.
After about 3 minutes of collective jogging we reached the building.
It was a medium-size building, about 3 times as tall as the length of the road.
"Alright! Sergeant Jon, organise for all the men to place thermal detonators to make the building fall over the road, we'll need to buy the army some time." I said, Jon quickly ran off after a salute.
35 men ran around placing thermal detonators while I and 5 others kept watch.
After 5 minutes I heard the Artillery cannons shoot at the shield.
It failed completely, did not even touch the shit.
But I knew we had to go soon.
"Hurry up, Jon. They're getting close!" I said into the device.
"Almost, almost! There! Got it, retreat, retreat!" He shouted, forgetting to turn of his comms.
I shook my heads before shouting. "Form up into your squads and retreat at will, but stay in your squads!"
After a few seconds the men began ushering around.
I put my comlink on the same frequency as Kenobi as I connected the call.
"Kenobi, the chargers are set and we're retreating." I said, updating him.
"Good job, Vaughn. Get out of there, we're retreating and setting up positions, hurry up." Obi Wan said before cutting the connection.
That's when I spotted Orange Squad and Eagle Squad began their run back, now it was only Tornado and White Squad remained.
I saw Typho gathering his men and i signalled for the 5 men with me to leave.
I approached Jon and White Squad as he was double checking the numbers.
"Sergeant, retreat back to General Lenovo's line. Give me the detonator." I said.
"But sir, you cannot think of remaining here alone! I can have one of the troopers do it." Jon exclaimed.
"It's fine, I'll be hiding. Now hand me the damn detonator." I said and he finally relented.
After that they began running, just as the droids enter the city outline.
There were 3 buildings between us.
Slowly the dove became less and less.
I ran to the building behind the one about to explode as I waited.
My advanced rangefinder telling me the perfect time.
"2 buildings."
"1 building"
"50 meters"
"30 meters"
"20 meters"
"10 meters"
"5 meters"
And as it hit 1 meter I pressed the button.
Immediately after a chain of explosions wrecked havoc throughout the building, until the last explosion rang out and the building began tipping towards the road.
"Good job, Jon." I muttered before I began sprinting towards the first clone line.
I reached Rex and Obi-Wan just in time for the building to explode.
I jumped behind cover beside them, the droids not yet within range.
"Good job, Vaughn. I'm impressed." Obi Wan said and I smiled under my helmet.
"Thank you, General." I said.
"It's good that you're back. Take your company into the building at 2'oclock. You'll rappell down." Captain Rex said and I nodded.
"Understood, sir!" Before running off.
The Platoon was already heading towards the building and we soon got to the top by the stairs, the elevators being broken.
As we arrived I saw one more Squad, they looked veteran but didn't talk.
"Alright, take cover and prepare your Ascension cable projectors." I shouted as we all got down, hiding from the droids sight.
Seconds ticked by as the droids got closed, the tanks were forced to stay behind the droid forces due to obstacles along the way but the large tri-spider guns remained.
Soon enough the battle started by their large balls with 3 guns and a lot of feet opened fire.
Followed by Obi-Wan jumping high into the midst of their lines.
"Alright, Orange and Tornado Squad, fire your cables, the rest prepare to use them!" I shouted as the 20 men lined up and fired down onto the ground.
Taking out a device I connected it to the cable and it allowed me to slide down, holding it with my left arm, I had my DC15A on my back.
As I began travelling down I took out my single DC17 Pistol and opened fire on the droids on the ground.
When I reached the ground I had already demolished about 4 B1 Battle Droids.
As I reached the approximate time to jump I released my grip of the ascension holder and rolled to elevate the force of smashing towards the ground.
Mid roll I took out and aimed my DC15A at the closest droid.
It was a B2 Super Battle Droid, not having yet realised the enemies behind him.
Putting my gun a out 10 centimetres away from his back head I began opening fire.
Each mag held about 50 laser rounds, I sent 5 of them at max power into this droid.
It tried to slowly turn around while unloaded into it's brain but at the 5th it fell down.
Turning around I found Obi-Wan destroying a lot of droids.
Turning to 2 men closest to me, I ordered.
"You two, on me."
While they were moving towards me I turned to my comms.
"332nd Platoon, begin creating a breach back to Headquarters, we'll meet up with Captain Rex. Tyr, make sure we get as many there as possible." I said before turning off my comms.
The two men had met up with me and we began following Obi-Wan, helping him fight his way through droids.
Eventually we ended up in the outer parts of the droid formation, looking into them I saw clones rushing back into Headquarters.
We ran up a few stairs as we entered the second level of the Headquarters.
We destroyed a few B2's and a lot of B1's by the time we entered the Headquarters.
We entered just in time to see a clone wrestling with a B2, dont know how he got that smart idea.
Obi-Wan jumped down, meanwhile I led the 2 men onto a few debrief pieces allowing us to get on the bottom floor peacefully, just in time for Rex to destroy a droid behind Obi-Wan.
"They're right behind us, sir! They wiped out most of my unit!" Rex shouted, I then spotted Tyr coming through another door with the 332nd, few casualties as far as I could see.
After an explosion we all took cover as the droids pushed into our small area.
"The droids almost reached the heavy cannons!" Obi Wan said over all the shooting.
"Move your troops back to the heavy cannons, I'll do whatever I can do delay them." Obi Wan said.
"But-" Rex tried, but Obi Wan cut him off
"That is an order Captain!" He shouted and Rex finally shut up.
He turned to me.
"Alright shinie, take your men with me, we'll defend the artillery at all costs." Rex said and I nodded.
Tyr was already getting the men out of the back door.
I saw the B2 come towards us and I rolled forward.
It was about to crush us but it didn't even get to land before Obi-Wan sent his lightsaber through it.
And with that we split up as we retreated through the back door while Obi Wan remained.
