Leigh sat in the staff meeting and watched the shocked faces of the other teachers. Sure, David complained about his budget, but because he cared about his students and wanted more for them. They worried too, about the students. With David gone, how would his students finish the course?
"I wonder if there is someone in the community who knows construction who could teach that part of the course to the students? It's only six weeks to the end of term." Susan sat at the far end of the table and dabbed at her eyes. "I hate to be pragmatic, but it isn't fair to the students to just tell them that they've wasted all that time in the shop."
"Couldn't we do what we did before and just trade off teaching his class?"
"That worked for phys ed, Al," Gary said, "But how many of us know how to build a stud wall or frame in a window or door?"
"There must be books..."
