Bab 19: Down The Memory Lane
"Kill him" The Laboratory scientist has said.
The two hefty men in the room were seen moving doing different tasks. One of them was seen opening a deep frozen case, the steam that came out from the case was of cold not heat. A syringe with a coloured liquid, and a long needle was brought out carefully. With his gloved hand, he picked the syringe, tapped it and moved closer to Orion.
Orion was white due to blood moving away from his face. He was scared that he was about to die. He struggled, protested, tried to loosen himself, but all were fruitless Orion had cried with the tape muffling his screams, so it was just were grumbling and minimal growling. The man with the syringe injected the liquid into Orion's vein slowly, like rushing it would cause a catastrophe.
Orion strained and stretched to loosen himself but he was held down by the restraints from the ropes.
He had expected a sharp pain from the injection piercing his skin and his insides burning like fire from the fluid he was injected with, but it was the total opposite. He in fact felt numb to the needle, and his crying ceased. The injection created a soothing relaxing sensation he had never thought could happen. All his muscles were relaxed and his nerves were calm.
Slowly, he fell into a deep slumber. With the Scientist constantly monitoring his status, Orion felt like he was tumbling down into a dark chasm of no end. He felt like he was falling and falling with no resistance or object to stop him.
"He would be in a state of coma in few seconds" was the last thing Orion heard the Scientist say before finally blacking out.
"He is already in comatose, he should be dead in 10 minutes" The lab scientist said giggly.
The bald man who owned the mega mansion was Lucas Moro by name and beside him was Jayden, and both men nodded in response to what the scientist had said.

Orion in his unconscious state saw himself in a space, more like an abyss. Darkness stretching beyond his imagination. He was floating and falling.
Nothing else to hold or grasp, no air, no friction, no gravity was found here. He realised the only thing he could do was talk. So he called for help, screamed, but no one answered. He looked around but nothing was present, not even matter or light.
Then out of no where, a bright light shone at him, almost blinding, he shrieked in pain. After some time, he was able to adjust and look at the source of light. Expecting someone, Orion was disappointed to have seen a film like display, showing himself and his past moving in a sequence like time. From one stage to another, he saw different aspects and events even when he was no where near the location. He was able to see the past of people related to him or close to him.
Stupefied, Orion couldn't do anything but watched as his life and the life of people he had interacted with unfolded in front of him. He saw how his dad had met Chase for a deal. He saw how Chase had shot his gun, but it wasn't his bullet that had hit Rodrygo. He saw the contracted sniper that had tried to kill Rodrygo during the morning class. He was able to identify his dad leaving the school premises with his car. Many events kept unfolding in front of him.
He witnessed how his mom had mistakenly submitted the original forensics report. The film displayed the last time he had sex with Indigo and Ashanté. How Ashanté pregnancy test came out positive and how they had gone to the hospital to inform him before she was also held hostage. He saw how his dad had died via a sniper shot to the head and how his mom had an accident. The display showed how Chase had died. Looking forward, He saw how the Animal Laboratory had started and how each individuals and men with power and affluence had connived to carry out the project.
Orion flinched at the multitude of beasts of different levels and monstrosity at the animal laboratory subterranean space. He saw the plans being carried out to either destroy the animal laboratory or let them loose to control humans and he became furious. Boiling with rage, he clenched hard on his teeth till his jaws hurt.
He watched as his mom's blood was slowly drained out of her till she died. He saw the lab scientist attaching a cannula to his girlfriend, Ashanté's vein when he lunged at the display and the light went off.
"Hello, Hello"? Orion called out breathing hard in anger.
No answer.
Looking around for anything in particular to even tell him or give him a clue of where he was, disappointed, He looked at his palm and heard a voice and footstep.
"Hello, Boy" The voice came, calm, slow and soothing like a current of sea breeze blowing over his face.
Frightened, Orion turned towards the source of the voice but saw nothing. The source of the voice was different from the source of the footstep, but they seem to be from the same entity that was talking.
The voice boomed again in the dark and Orion turned, seeing nothing but hearing footsteps in the opposite direction.
"Who are you?" Orion asked with terror evidently showing in his voice.
"Well, that's an ambiguous question to ask. Because I'm not a person or an animal. What am I would have been a proper way for me to introduce myself to you"
The footsteps came closer to where Orion stood, while the voice became distant.
Fidgety, Orion garnered courage and asked, "What are you?".
Suddenly, the footsteps stopped. Then a loud boom of laughter rocked the darkness. Orion felt his body hair standing erect as a current of air blew on his face. Appearing closer to his ear, Orion heard the whispers, like the voices of a thousand humans, soothing like the voice of a child, loud like a thousand thunderclap.
"I am the darkness that surrounds you".
"I am the power of the human world".
"I am death and life".
"I am the giver of one and taker of thousands".
"I am who I think I am".
"I am the devil".
A thunderous clap of laughter followed shaking the very foundation on which Orion existed.

Orion was violently shaking on his bed in the laboratory. The laboratory scientist had pronounced him dead 30 minutes ago, but they were all shocked to see him vigorously shaking. The Scientist had injected into him another fluid from a mixture of potions from a test tube mixed with his mother's blood. After some minutes, the scientist had concluded that Orion should be awake as a beast or monster after he had been thrown into a large tank of fluid and left to metamorphose.
"What! This is impossible" The Scientist face was white with shock. Lucas Moro and Akomolafe Jayden froze.
