Bab 4: Chapter 4 : Prophecy

Ike remembered an article from an earlier forum.

"It was from someone named Meg," Ike thought aloud.

"Meg claims to be from the future," Ike continued, "To be precise, it's from 2089, while his first appearance was in 2018."

Intrigued, Ike shared this with his family, "He published a post on the forum titled 'I am from the future.'"

Anna listened curiously as Ike went on.

"On the first floor," Ike explained, "he said he was from the 'future' of 2089. He's not here to save humans from the past, or because humans from the future invented a time machine. But he had developed some kind of 'mutation.' His soul can, in a way, 'overlap time' and have conversations with people from the past. But he hasn't been seen since. He said the future earth is hell!"

Anna raised an eyebrow, "Really?"

Ike nodded, "Then he also gave his first prediction, which was in 2020."

Anna asked, "What did he predict?"

Ike replied, "It reads, 'This year, nature created a virus that killed many people indiscriminately. Hell begins in this new age, and I will slowly reveal to you your future life.'"

After publishing this article, Ike continued, "he was never seen again because there were so many prophetic articles claiming to be from the future."

Yingli, Ike's mother, chimed in, "Besides, it's a very fake thing. Naturally, the article did not attract much attention."

Ike nodded, "Later, everyone knew about the big event in 2020."

His sister Anna asked, "What was the event?" Ike explained, "The pandemic."

Anna nodded in understanding, "I see. His second appearance was in 2022?"

Ike nodded, "Yes. This time, he left eight predictions, including the one from 2018, for a total of nine."

Anna was intrigued, "What were the other predictions?"

Ike continued, "The remaining eight predictions include earthquakes, natural disasters, and various major current events."

Anna asked, "And have any of them come true?"

Ike replied, "The content and timing of each prophecy is so vague that it's absolutely hard to guess until something happens. When something happens, it gives a sense of an aha moment."

Ike recalled one of Meg's predictions, "His sixth prediction was, 'This year is the real beginning of hell, and many people will freeze to death for a short time, but it's no big deal, because it's just the beginning.'"

His mother Yingli wondered, "Freeze to death?"

Ike nodded, "Yes, his seventh prediction was: 'This year you will enter real hell, expect it, it will be no big deal.' The weak will be eliminated first, the strong will survive, but those who survive should not be too proud."

Anna was puzzled, "His predictions are so strange."

Ike explained further, "His eighth prediction: 'This year, especially for women, will be very bad.' Of course, my bad words are not what you think."

His sister Anna looked puzzled, "What does that even mean?"

Ike chuckled, "And his ninth prophecy was, 'I am born this year, and I am very ugly compared to you.' But it doesn't matter, I survived."

Anna couldn't help but laugh at the strange predictions, "These predictions don't point to exact times or specific events at all."

Ike continued his story, "In 2031, Europe experienced widespread blackouts due to a solar storm, and it was spring. People without heat froze or starved to death within a month, and more than 3,000 deaths were recorded. Nearly 10,000 people are said to have no records."

Anna was skeptical, "But Ike thought that was nonsense."

Ike admitted, "However, if the word 'freeze to death' doesn't even have a certain longevity, then it can be said that he predicted success."

Yingli pondered, "Too fake?"

Ike nodded, "In addition, Meg's original post has long since been deleted, and multiple versions of the Nine Prophecies are circulating online. Who knows if someone intentionally altered it later and then hyped it every year?"

Anna wondered, "Is this endless thing worth getting out and reading? Is it as trustworthy as the Bible?"

Ike's phone buzzed, interrupting their conversation. It was a text from Nico.

"We discussed Meg's prophecy," Ike informed his family. Anna asked, "What did Nico say?"

Ike replied, "I told him that Meg's predicted time was uncertain, sometimes near, sometimes far away. This time, the typhoon suddenly came, something must have happened! If not war, it could be a natural disaster. A super tornado or something."

Ike shared, "Wash and sleep."

Ike suddenly decided he should listen to Nico and stock up on some compressed cookies.

"He's the number one retarded person." And then Nick sent a bunch of texts...

"Ike, I really have a strong feeling about this! Please, I'm not just guessing. I admit I can be a bit of a maverick sometimes, but this time I mean it." -- Nico

"Something is really going to happen, and this time I have a very strong feeling about it! Also, I haven't managed to climb the Great Wall today, which is also strange! Just trust me for once, okay? Don't buy anything else, just some medicine.

What if something happens? !" -- Nico

"Trust me for once. I know you must think I'm crazy for no reason. But if I didn't think you were my best brother, I'd spend so much energy explaining a ghost to you!" -- Nico

"I beg you, go buy some cold medicine and antibiotics and store them at home." If it turns out you really can't use it, I

'll be on duty for a month. Is that okay with you?" -- Nico "..." Ike slumped on the couch and had nothing to say.

He promised Nico to prepare food for two months. Also, withdraw more cash.

Ike really couldn't help his good friend Nico.

Although Ike is only 20 years old this year, due to a single parent family.

He was a very precocious and rational man.

Although he also has a young and childish side, such as being scared by the subway accident at the mall and buying a lot of things.

But he soon calmed down and analyzed that even if there was a subway accident, there was no need to stockpile supplies.

Caution is a good thing, but being too surprised can make people seem smart at first glance.

Nico's concerns are not entirely unfounded. It's just Ike thinks it's a little over the top.

He can make the necessary preparations ahead of time, but there is no need to listen to others like a fool and then run to the mall or pharmacy to stock up.

It made him feel like a brainwashed idiot.

However, the withdrawal served as a good reminder to him.

In the age of electronic cash, if the power goes out in this area for a while.

It is necessary to have some cash around.

At least it will save you from turning off your phone and becoming a "poor man".

So he quickly asked his mother to apply for a bank card.

"You can withdraw some cash," Yingli said. In addition, Aunt Li asked for half a month's leave due to unexpected circumstances. Please stop by and get my spare key back."

"Well, I'm going out now, sister. Do you want to come along? "-- Ike said to Anna in the room.

"No, I'm writing a school paper!" 'said Anna.

"Fully charge the phone's charging bank at home, and the power goes out at night."

"Oh! ! I almost forgot."

After leaving the house, Ike first went to the bank teller machine to withdraw money. There were so many people waiting to withdraw money that he waited in line for a long time. "..."

The daily limit at the bank withdrawal window was only

$20,000, and Ike withdrew $20,000.

After withdrawing the money, he went to the nearest big pharmacy to buy medicine.

Due to the city's holiday season, the streets remained chaotic and the sky gradually darkened.

The white shadow that had just split the sky in two disappeared, and the setting sun left no trace, leaving only a flat and dull deep blue sky.

Everything seemed normal, except for a bit of traffic chaos.

Time: 15:49 p.m.

There aren't many people at the pharmacy, and since Ike got here, he's not just buying cold medicine and antibiotics like Nico said.

That's how he is, a little tough-talking, but very soft-hearted.

Although he felt that Nico was being unreasonable, the other side's words were for this matter.

He's not short of money, so it's good to keep Nico happy.

Cold medicine, stomach medicine, antibiotics, vitamins, whatever you like.

Ike said as he texted Nico.

"Ike, thank you for trusting me!" -- Text from Nico

"These are really medications that need to be prepared regularly, but they're still not enough. Let me see your list!" -- Ike discussed it with him.

Looking at the price posted on the medicine box, Ike thought it was expensive, perhaps because there had been so many accidents today and so many people were buying medicine.

"Antibiotics, how much is this bottle?" Nico asked.

"Take three bottles of this and get one free," the pharmacy worker replied.

"Bring iodine, cotton swabs, masks, bandages, um... There are many more kinds of antibiotics," Ike instructed.

The pharmacy worker looked strangely at Ike, who was tapping his phone screen.
