Bab 53: A Void Mage's Breakthrough

The man took a hesitant step forward, his boots sinking slightly into the plush carpet beneath his feet. The air was thick with an ominous energy, suffocating and heavy, as though it were a tangible force. He could feel the weight of it pressing down on him, a warning to turn back and flee.

But he couldn't. He had come too far to back down now, and so he pressed on, his heart pounding in his chest as he made his way further into the dark room. He saw a person with black balls of energy floating ominously around him, twisting and turning like malevolent spirits eager to claim their next victim.

He hushed himself and quickly hid, attempting to study the magic he was using.
