#Chapter 3
I slowly turn my key in the lock and twist the doorknob before pushing the door open.
Once I have the door halfway open I tiptoe through it and carefully close it behind me.
Due to me wearing heels with my dress yesterday those are the only pair of shoes that I am currently wearing.
Actually, I am wearing my entire outfit from Hanna and Aurelia's post wedding party.
The only difference is that my hair is currently a dirty, tangled mess, my makeup is smeared and my clothes are disheveled.
I feel gross and I look gross.
At least the sex was amazing.
I kneel down and undo the straps on my heels, removing them immediately after and holding them in my free hand.
I slowly begin to limp my way towards the staircase, still feeling the affects of last nights decisions.
I am careful to avoid the squeaky boards, not wanting my parents to find me sneaking in at seven thirty in the morning.
Seven hours and thirty minutes later than I was supposed to be home.
An hour before I am supposed to be at school.
Thirty minutes less than what I am going to need to fix this mess that I am calling my face.
I feel a euphoric feeling fill up my entire body when I finally reach the staircase with no problems.
Just as I am about to climb the stairs my heart drops all the way down to my stomach.
/"Wow, the walk of shame,/" I hear someone say from the entrance of the kitchen
Shit.
/"I haven't seen that since Hanna/" she states
I cringe, hoping to disappear, as I slowly turn around to face my mom.
She does not look happy.
/"Mom, I can explain/" I promise her
She crosses her arms and leans against the doorframe.
/"Please do/" she encourages me with a tone of obvious frustration and distress
I carefully analyze my mom's facial expression.
Her eyebrows are angrily furrowed together, she is still wearing her dress from yesterday meaning that she was up all morning and she still has her makeup on.
Ugh.
How am I going to get out of this.
/"Explain yourself, Haley/" my mom commands, getting angrier the longer I stay silent
I swallow the lump in my throat.
/"We accidentally fell asleep/" I weakly lie
My mom leans off of the wall and raises an eyebrow at me.
/"Who is 'we'?/" She questions me
I nervously begin to dig my nails into my dress.
/"Alexis and I/" I quietly answer her
/"Of course it is!/" She groans and makes her way back into the kitchen
I follow her into the kitchen only to be immediately blinded by the sunlight.
Fuck.
I shouldn't have had those rainbow shots with Alexis at five in the morning in between rounds.
/"Mom, don't get mad at my girlfriend, it's my fault,/" I tell her as I make my way around the island to stand across from her
She ignores me and pours a cup of coffee.
/"I should've set an alarm or something-/" I go on
/"No!/" She angrily cuts me off
I am frozen in my spot by her yelling at me.
She never yells at me.
/"You shouldn't have gone over there in the first place,/" she tells me
/"Every single time you go over there I don't hear from you for hours to days at a time,/" she says
I shake my head, immediately feeling sick at this action.
She catches this and groans again.
/"Seriously, Haley?! You've got to be fucking kidding me?!/" She practically shouts
/"Why the actual fuck would you drink on a school night?!/" She questions me
I go to answer her only to be cut off.
/"You know what, you're grounded/" she tells me
My eyes widen at this.
No!
/"Mom, that is so unfair!/" I tell her
She smiles gleefully at this.
/"I'm unfair? Okay, let's lay everything out on the table,/" she fake smiles
/"You constantly disobey my rules, you're rarely where you say you are, you're always either high or hungover whenever you leave Alexis' house,/" she counts on her fingers
/"All of that's without mentioning the fact that you're an eighteen year old dating a fucking twenty one year old!/" She exclaims
I slam my stuff on the counter, beginning to become frustrated.
/"One, she's young for her age and two, I have a party tonight,/" I inform my mom
/"I can't be grounded!/" I tell her
She looks at me like I have lost my mind.
/"You're not going to a party on a Monday night, Haley!/" She tells me
Ugh!
She is such a bitch!
This is so unfair!
All of my friends get to go!
/"I'm eighteen, a legal adult!/" I argue back
/"Yeah, a legal adult that stays under my roof!/" She yells back
I groan and stomp my way to my bedroom.
/"I hate you!/" I yell as I run up the stairs
I quickly reach the top of the staircase and make my way towards my bedroom, which is Hanna's old room.
She has the bigger room.
I slam my bedroom door behind me and throw my stuff on my bed.
Ugh.
Why does she have to be so fucking unbearable.
My phone begins to ring which further frustrates me.
I grab it from my purse and blindly answer it.
/"What?/" I hiss at the person
The person laughs at my reaction.
/"Someone's not having a good morning/" one of my best friends comment
I roll my eyes at her joke.
/"My mom is being a bitch to the tenth degree/" I tell them
I make my way over to my closet so that I can figure out what kind of outfit I want to wear today.
Hmm.
I kind of want to wear a dress to the party tonight so that means that I have to wear either pants or shorts to school.
/"Aww, that sucks for you,/" Ruby weakly sympathizes
/"My parents gave me a one hundred this morning because they think we have an over night field trip today, who's house can I stay at?/" I hear my other friend Alisha ask in the background
Where are they?
/"You can stay at mine, I'll just tell my parents that we have a huge test tomorrow and need to study for it/" I hear Erin answer in the background
Oh, they're all together.
/"Where are you guys?/" I ask them as I pull a pair of black shorts out of my closet
/"We're on our way to your house, school starts in thirty minutes/" Ruby answers me with a confused tone of voice
Shit!
I still have to take a shower too!
/"Okay, I'll see you soon/" I tell them
/"Bye,/" they all say in unison
/"Wear black!/" Erin yells before the line goes dead
Black.
I can do that.
