Chapter 35: What Should I Do When My Roommates Aren't Friendly?
He looked at Dumbledore, confused. Could it be that the headmaster intended to kill the boy?
Dumbledore didn't explain to Snape. He simply shook his head, signaling him not to ask further and urging him with his eyes to take Chu Yang away quickly.
Snape snorted coldly, bowed slightly to Dumbledore, and turned to leave.
"Thank you for your hospitality, Headmaster Dumbledore. The snacks here were quite good," Chu Yang politely bowed before following Snape out.
Dumbledore watched their retreating figures until the door shut tightly behind them.
The entrance to the Slytherin dormitories and common room was located in the underground areas of Hogwarts.
Hufflepuff House was also in the same area.
The two houses were in opposite directions, with the Hogwarts kitchens in between, where hundreds of house elves worked.
Chu Yang followed Snape down the same path the new students had taken from the dock to the main entrance of the school, but this time, they took a different branch of the road.
Not long after, a damp stone wall blocked their way.
This scene was identical to the back door of the Leaky Cauldron.
"Pureblood!"
Snape proudly uttered the password, giving Chu Yang a quick glance. The stone wall rumbled open, revealing a cobblestone path beneath their feet.
They followed the path deeper into the underground, and soon, a spacious common room appeared.
The walls were made of black Gothic-style marble, and the ceiling was a crystal-carved transparent dome, offering a view of the shimmering water above.
They were beneath the lake—specifically, the Black Lake.
Chu Yang looked up.
Through the windows, he could see fish and some large marine creatures swimming past.
Chains held lanterns that emitted a faint green light, illuminating the room. There was a fireplace with a beautifully carved mantel.
The common room had two staircases, one leading to the boys' dormitories and the other to the girls'.
Snape stood at the entrance and said coldly, "You're not expecting me to find your bed for you, are you?"
"Thank you."
Despite Snape's indifferent attitude, Chu Yang still politely bade him farewell.
"Slytherin is unlike other houses. The students here harbor deep hostility toward non-pureblood wizards. If you don't have the ability to protect yourself, leave early. Don't end up losing your life here," Snape added unexpectedly before turning and walking out of the common room.
A sharp tongue but a soft heart.
Watching Snape's prideful figure, Chu Yang shook his head and walked up the stairs to the boys' dormitory.
Upon entering the room, he saw a row of beds with dark green curtains hanging from them. Unlike the cheerful atmosphere in Gryffindor, the boys in Slytherin were quite serious. They weren't boisterously fooling around but instead preparing to establish the dormitory leader.
As for what they were competing with…
It was, of course, their illustrious family backgrounds. Whoever had the most distinguished lineage would have the most influence and authority in the dormitory.
Draco Malfoy wasn't there, so for the moment, the boys couldn't determine a clear leader.
However, one thing was certain—someone like Chu Yang, who wasn't of pureblood descent, would definitely hold the lowest status.
"What are you doing here?!" Goyle, who had been arguing, suddenly noticed Chu Yang standing at the door and immediately shouted in alarm.
All the new students turned their attention to Chu Yang, recalling the shocking scene in the Great Hall earlier.
"Isn't he a Muggle-born? How could he be sorted into Slytherin?" Crabbe and Goyle whispered to the other new students, and soon, everyone knew Chu Yang's true background.
The students who had initially considered welcoming Chu Yang instantly changed their attitudes, unanimously uniting to glare at him with hostile eyes.
"Sorry, you must be in the wrong place. This is the great Slytherin House, not a place for a non-pureblood wizard like you," said Blaise Zabini, a dark-skinned boy who stepped forward, looking at Chu Yang with disdain and contempt.
Chu Yang glanced at his classmates, who now regarded him as an enemy, and a faint smile appeared on his lips. "You don't like me being here? That's perfect, because I feel the same way. Even back in the orphanage, I only liked sleeping in my own room."
"A dormitory like this doesn't suit me at all. So, it would be best if you all obediently get out and let me sleep in peace. Otherwise, tomorrow, many of you might miss class, and if Slytherin loses house points, that would be a real bother for me."
"A filthy Mudblood dares to threaten us?" Chu Yang's attitude provoked Blaise Zabini's pureblood pride. "This isn't your territory, you eastern scum!"
"If I remember correctly, there are no wizards in Africa. Only shamans," Chu Yang sneered. "I heard your ancestors learned magic on a cotton plantation."
Blaise, who had African heritage, flew into a rage!
He charged straight at Chu Yang, determined to make this skinny eastern boy feel his strength!
The scene was somewhat comical. For someone who prided himself on being a pureblood wizard, Blaise resorted to using his fists, as he had yet to learn any offensive spells.
As Blaise and Chu Yang's confrontation began, Goyle and Crabbe instinctively took a few steps back. They still suspected that Malfoy's earlier misfortune might be connected to Chu Yang.
Though the two were not particularly bright, their instincts were surprisingly accurate.
How much damage could an 11-year-old's fists really do?
Chu Yang didn't even bother to dodge. Seizing the moment, he kicked Blaise hard in the stomach.
Blaise felt a tremendous force hit him, sending waves of pain through his body. As his consciousness began to blur, he had the sensation of flying through the air.
In fact, he had been kicked by Chu Yang with such force that he flew a few meters, skidded across the smooth floor, and ended up under a bed.
Blaise was immediately knocked out.
The others were stunned!
With just a casual kick, Chu Yang had knocked out the strong Blaise Zabini.
"Damn it! Let's all attack together and kick him out of Slytherin!"
The group charged at Chu Yang, hoping to overwhelm him with sheer numbers. The commotion even attracted new students from other dormitories.
Once they understood the situation, they eagerly joined the battle against Chu Yang.
At this moment, Goyle and Crabbe instinctively backed away again.
Their instincts remained sharp.
Within just a few breaths, a group of 11-year-olds lay on the floor, foaming at the mouth.
Chu Yang clapped his hands and smiled at Goyle and Crabbe. "If you don't mind, could you please take out the trash on your way out? Just don't disturb my sleep, alright?"
Goyle and Crabbe nodded furiously, like chickens pecking at grain.
Chu Yang then found a bed by the window where he could admire the mysterious creatures in the lake. He quickly took off his robes, slipped into the soft bed, and closed his eyes, a contented smile on his face.
Goyle and Crabbe carefully dragged each boy out of the room, afraid to make any noise that might disturb Chu Yang's sleep.
As Goyle carried Blaise, he accidentally knocked his head against the bedpost, producing a dull thud.
Chu Yang's eyelids twitched, but he didn't open his eyes, merely showing a displeased expression.
Goyle and Crabbe were terrified, trembling as they slowly dragged the others out.
Once the door was quietly shut, Chu Yang smiled and finally drifted off to sleep.
As they looked at the group of unconscious students in the common room, Goyle and Crabbe, drenched in sweat, grimaced and found a comfortable spot on the sofas to lie down.
Though the fire in the fireplace roared brightly, it couldn't drive away the dampness from the floor.
After all, they were at the bottom of the Black Lake. Lying like this until morning, most of the new students would likely catch colds.
