Chapter 59: Am I not someone's child?

Defiance got off the elevator and she stood still for a few seconds to gather her wandering mind.

Her heart was pounding and her palms were sweaty. She wanted to wipe the sweat off with her dress but the thought of ruining it was heartbreaking and it wasn't even hers to begin with.

She started walking again towards the penthouse suite as slowly as humanly possible as if it would make the Alpha change his mind about seeing her.

She made it a couple of steps before the door opened and Phoenix came outside. She looked worried. Defiance could tell by the lines on her face. 

"Alpha Phoenix" Defiance murmured as she got closer.

"Hey, girl. How are you doing? And please call me Phoenix. It's my name" 

But Defiance knew better, her father had taught her that it was disrespectful to call an alpha by his or her name.

"I can't do that. It's disrespectful" Defiance insisted.
