Bab 56: Your date?

The car ride dragged on longer than I had anticipated, each minute feeling like an eternity. I glanced at Isabel, my assistant, who was busily typing away on her phone, her fingers a blur over the screen.

Outside the window, the cityscape was a chaotic blur of buildings and pedestrians, cars honking and weaving through traffic. The journey seemed endless, a monotonous grind through the concrete jungle.

I sighed, trying to mask my growing impatience. "When are we arriving home?" I asked, my voice strained with an attempt to sound nonchalant.

The chauffeur, catching my eye through the rearview mirror, responded calmly. "We are not going home, Ms. Steele asked us to drive you to her office."
