As we walked away from the school, Chloe's shoulders began to relax. The tension of the confrontation with Max slowly dissipated, and we fell into a comfortable silence. The rhythmic crunch of our footsteps on the pavement and the occasional hum of passing cars were the only sounds accompanying us.

"Thanks for being there for me, Elena," Chloe said softly, breaking the silence.

"Of course, Chloe. You're my friend. I'll always be here for you," I replied, squeezing her hand reassuringly.

We walked a bit further, and I noticed the neighborhood around us changing. The houses were getting larger, the lawns more manicured. Trees lined the streets, their branches creating a canopy overhead. The atmosphere was calm and serene, a stark contrast to the bustling city we had left behind.

"Where exactly do you live?" I asked, curiosity piqued by the increasingly opulent surroundings.
