As we walked through the dark streets, I couldn't help but feel the weight of the situation bearing down on me. Carmen was out there, held captive, and we were about to break into a heavily guarded vampire stronghold to rescue her.

Every step felt heavier, and the closer we got to the edge of the city, the more nervous I became. But Lydia and Isabel seemed completely at ease, whispering to each other with an odd calmness that didn't match the danger we were walking into.

"Alright, we need to blend in," Lydia whispered, slowing her pace as we approached a checkpoint near the outskirts. The guards ahead were clearly on high alert, scanning the crowd for anything suspicious.
