“No, our parents aren’t in the picture. I look after them.” I had been going back and forth with the girl behind the counter at ‘The Rainbow House’ for about fifteen minutes at this point. Her insisting that the parents of the kids attending needed to be the ones who enrolled them. And me telling her that, that wasn’t possible. Not everyone in the town needs to know that my parents suck ass at being parents. We didn’t need their pity. My problems were mine and I would deal with them on my own.
