Bab 16: Cedric I
We talked until nightfall, as he already knew my secret I decided to give him a vote of confidence and ask him to stand guard with me, as I still did not know him well I omitted one or another detail, the dragon some nights returned to its original form and transmitted energy to the Moon, it was his way of maintaining the balance between our powers.
When Guillermo fell asleep I asked the fairies and the dragon to keep an eye on him and I decided to swim a little as a mermaid to see what other clues I had, clearly when saving the world of Neptune I ignored some details of the tattoo as I kept in it not only the power to become a mermaid as I liked but also the power to do echolocation and the call that the whales do, the thing is that there was nothing near my badge so I tried to find a way to communicate with them.
Because I was so distracted in clues and searches I ignored the time and the dawn was coming, I swam as fast as I could to get back to the shore and when I saw the rock where I always go I jumped but to my mistake Guillermo and a somewhat curious Cedric managed to see me, when I fell on the rock the magic disappeared and I could only say 'oops... what a flap of a flipper'.
Guillermo just looked at me amazed but Cedric had a gesture that was hard to tell if he was angry, amazed or worried, what I did know was that the dragon just laughed and said in a tone of 'you got caught' question, "What are you going to do now Sapphire?".
What amazed me was that for the first time he said my name, so I took a deep breath and said, "Hehe... I'll see, I still have no ideas."
I managed to hear her say, "Mmm... I thought you were smarter".
I don't know why, but his tone made me laugh more than make me angry, so while I was walking and I was wringing out my hair I said cheerfully: good morning Guillermo, Cedric... the morning is beautiful.
As I smiled I noticed how Cedric frowned a little and said: good morning Sapphire, I had had an excellent morning so far.
I faked a laugh of 'how comical' but Guillermo's response was something I didn't know what to say or do, as he very happily said: I slept great, but waking up and seeing a beautiful mermaid with angel fins is a beautiful thing.
When he said that my mind was simply speechless.
Cedric just looked uncomfortably as Guillermo gave me a compliment, although honestly I didn't know if he was jealous or angry because I let him see me as a mermaid, what I thought was already over as a curious morning, the truth is that it was just beginning for the 3 of us, as after that uncomfortable greeting I wanted to leave Guillermo insisted on inviting me to have breakfast with him and continue investigating.
I really didn't know what to do but when I was about to ask Cedric for help Guillermo invited him to breakfast but he declined saying he had better things to do. I felt a slight pang when he said it as I felt him saying 'shouldn't you be looking for our daughter too'.
It just made me uncomfortable that he only saw my failures and not my attempts, so as my stomach was screaming for food my mind came up with an idea to go to the sea and not go out unless it was with my little Kath.
