Rudra, the protagonist of the story, is believed to be the reincarnation of Lord Shiva.

However, he was born without any memories of his past life. In a previous incarnation as Lord Shiva, he unintentionally incurred a curse from his wife, Goddess Parvathi.

After a momentary disappearance from her sight, an uproar ensued in the realm of the gods, as Goddess Parvathi panicked and could no longer sense Lord Shiva's presence.
