Bab 63: Chapter 63

“Go to your men, Dull Lance, and ride. I’m going to tell whoever comes you traveled north. Ride straight through my fields and then turn in that direction, but try not to do too much damage. Join your men and get out of here. There’s already an army patrol out, but I think they’re south of the Yanube trying to track you from the farm you attacked yesterday. You’d better lay a false trail a distance to the north. Go to Trickling Water and wade downstream to throw them off. Then go home. Go back to the Laramie country.”

“They are looking for me there. That is why I left. They’re hunting me for murder.”

“Then go to Canada.”

“What will you do?”

“I’m going to fire my outhouse and claim I came upon you before you could torch the house.”

Lance grunted and went for his pony hidden at the side of the barn. A moment later, he pounded off to the northwest, riding through my plowed fields.
