Victoria silently meditated on the bed and didn't bother to check on what Gideon was doing as he told her he would be busy.
The man in question stared at the three rabbits he had immobilized with paralytic poison and began to think. He had already forgotten his past grievances and was fully focused on the future.
'My current poisons are for restraining and attacking. I need to make something that will prove to be beneficial in a drawn out battle.' Gideon thought for a moment before he finally decided what he would create first.
He grabbed one of the paralyzed rabbits and with his dagger, made a small cut in one of its legs. Immediately after, blood flowed for a bit before the bleeding eventually stopped.
'Poison that hinders regeneration and stops blood clotting.' Gideon thought as he immediately got to work.
As he did years ago, he stretched out his hand and a semisolid glob formed in his palm. This was the base attribute poison of all poison mages. Usually, poison mages pick a single poison as a path and develop in that path and very rarely did they pick two as it was very difficult to properly develop in both paths, but Gideon was an exception.
'Poison that after entering one's body, they loose their ability to regenerate. So that means it stops the regrowth of cells. In other words, the cells that are destroyed don't come back.' As Gideon Imagine how the poison would work, the glob of poison in his palm began to change as its structure and composition changed to meet Gideon's needs.
'When a wound is inflicted, blood begins the clot to stop the wound from bleeding. Platelets are responsible for this, and it is under cell regrowth, so they go hand in hand. Meaning, if I stop one, the other will follow suit.' Gideon felt that the poison was nearly complete.
'And in the case of reforming new cells, collagen is created as the foundation before granulation tissue is formed and after than the rest of the tissue is created. So collagen is what needs to be removed.' But after thinking of this, Gideon smiled.
'But in the end, it all boils down to whether the blood clots. So platelets must be removed.' Upon reaching this conclusion, Gideon instinctively felt that the poison was complete.
And so immediately, he removed the blood that had clotted from where he cut the rabbit and poured a bit of the new poison he made. And as he expected, after a while, the rabbit never stopped bleeding despite the small wound.
'I'll call it, anti-regeneration.' Gideon named it and smiled faintly before cancelling the poison in the rabbit's body. After all it was still in good shape.
'Hmm, this one doesn't do damage, but it should be helpful in battle.' Gideon thought before he started with another poison glob.
'Poison that makes pain worse.' This was the next poison that Gideon would make since it could be quite useful in fights.
'When someone or something receives an injury, the pain receptors are activated and send signals to the brain so that the body will move away from the thing that injured it. The worse the wound, the stronger the signal the receptors send. So...' Gideon stared at the small wound on the rabbit which caused it probably a meager level of pain.
'What if the signals the receptors sent were more than was necessary for a small wound like this? What if the signal was so exaggerated that a small cut would cause so much pain to the point that the target looses their ability to think?' Gideon felt the poison reaching completion and finally thought.
'Why not make a small cut feel like loosing a limb, and loosing a limb can cause one's mental state to shatter from the pain? Just make it happen.' And with that, the poison was created.
Gideon cruelly grabbed the rabbit by the neck so that it didn't make any sounds as he cancelled his paralytic poison causing it to kick the air as it tried to free itself from his grip. But then Gideon put a drop of the newly created poison into the wound and the effect was immediate.
The rabbit went from aimlessly kicking to violently struggling and it twisted and turned its body as the small and insignificant wound generated a horrible amount of pain.
And sadly, Gideon had unknowingly put enough poison to make a normal human (Evolved earth standards) to drop to the ground in pain, talk less of a rabbit.
Eventually, the rabbit simply couldn't handle the pian and so it lost consciousness, causing Gideon to drop it.
'Turns out that I only needed two rabbits. Anyway, I'll call this torture poison.' He thought as he started to ponder what he wanted next.
So far, both of the new poisons were centered on external and possibly internal wounds.
'Hmm, what about a poison that weakens as time goes on?' Gideon thought about it and immediately decided. After all, despite how he fights, poison mages are made for long drawn out battles.
'A weakening poison, but what sort of weakening am I going for? I doubt that my poison can affect other's astral energy yet so I'll focus on physical weakening.' Gideon concluded and immediately got to work.
He once again grabbed another rabbit by the neck and removed paralysis and after he saw it struggle for a bit, he concluded that it could go on for about 9 minutes before it got tired.
And so after paralysing it once again, he began creating a new poison.
'The more one uses their body in a specific action, the more tired they become, this is a result of three reasons. The first reason is because the more they use a specific muscle set, the muscles contract and flex, and doing this constantly results into muscles fatigue, moreover, the constant strain that is put on the muscles cause them to tear ever so slightly, which is why one's body hurts after they exercise.' The poison began to form.
'As for the second reason, this has to so with one's lungs. Blood has to flow for muscles to move. This why one's veins bulge when they flex their muscles. And there must be oxygen for the blood to flow, otherwise the action can't be executed. This is also why when one is short of breath, they can barely do anything even if they aren't suffering from muscle fatigue.' Gideon finished and the poison was nearly complete.
'And finally, there is mental exhaustion. This usually happens when one forces their body to move despite the protests of their body. This is why people usually sleep after exerting themselves and going past their physical limits. The stress on the brain increases as it has to do more work to prevent the body from collapsing. So I just need to increase the speed of muscle fatigue, reduce oxygen intake and finally increase the burden on the brain.' And so with that final conclusion, the last poison was made.
Gideon removed the paralysis and made the rabbit inhale the poison via gas as it began to struggle. And exceeding his expectations, the rabbit fainted from exhaustion from the third minute.
'Following that, I now want to make a poison that can slowly destroy muscle tissue, but with the restriction of my unique skill, I can't. Damn I really should've used those previous years to create more poisons.' Gideon thought with a sigh.
'I wonder what it would've been like if I had awakened my unique skill earlier.' Gideon thought with melancholy before shaking his head.
'Nah, I probably wouldn't have been able to meet their expectations in the end.' Gideon thought with a sigh.
'Still, I would've had a fairly normal childhood and wouldn't have nearly died on the train before getting stuck in the wilderness.' Gideon sighed again before looking at Victoria who was meditating silently and his eyes were filled with tenderness.
'It doesn't matter which one happened, as long as you're with me, it will be worth it.' His eyes were then filled with determination.
'I I won't let anyone hurt you, no matter what.'
