The next day arrived quickly and before they knew it, Gideon and Victoria were once again standing inside the gravity chamber.
"Get ready." Baal's voice sounded and once again, the duo felt their strength get suppressed until it was at half, and then the gravity came down in them. And soon after, the first shots were fired.
Unlike yesterday however, they immediately put Teran's teachings to use and only use their suppressed strength at the bare minimum. Moreover, even though the red beams had no pattern, the duo were starting to grasp how long it took for each beam to charge up, how fast it travelled, as well as the rate at which they got faster.
Immediately, they started to perform much better than the previous day and the demons who were observing from outside were bewildered by such a fast rate of improvement.
Meanwhile, Gideon and Victoria did something nobody expected. They closed their eyes.
'What are they doing?' Baal's brows furrowed when he noticed this abnormal action. But then he immediately came to a conclusion and was shocked.
'Don't tell me. Are they trying to use their instincts to dodge!?!' His guess was spot on.
Yesterday, they both decided that they would use the gravity chamber to hone their instincts. After all, they were only able to use them with Draven and Teran.
And with their prior knowledge on how the beams of the chamber worked, they began to use their instincts to dodge and completely drowned out their other senses.
Now from an outsider's point of view, it appeared as if the two had closed their eyes, but just when the red beams were about to hit their bodies, they would dodge by a hair's breadth.
Time went on and soon, they had surpassed their previous 1 hour time, and they showed no signs of stopping either. At this moment, it seemed as if they were starting to dodge before the beams even fired, albeit it only happened from time to time. Nevertheless, it was terrifying.
At this moment, the two siblings bodies pretty much were moving on their own and it was only after the third hour that they were eventually knocked out. But they were all smiles even after that, because now, they felt that their control over their bodies had improved greatly.
Baal stared at them with a burning gaze as he tried to figure out why these two were so talented.
'At this rate, the gravity chamber will become ineffective.' Baal thought with a bitter smile as the thought of how these two were making one of the greatest training tools of his kingdom seem obsolete.
The next day was even more astonishing as the duo's bodies were practically moving by themselves and this time, were able to dodge the beams before they fired more frequently.
And even more crazy, Gideon was creating a footwork technique that focused on dodging. In the middle of thousands of red beams!
At some point, they were able to accurately predict where a beam would fire before it did and we're now doing it unconsciously. So now, the only reason they weren't able to dodge a beam was because there were simply too many for them to dodge even with their instincts being honed to such a degree.
As time went on, the gravity chamber was beginning to bring less and less difficulty to the siblings. Their stamina had also increases by leaps and bounds as since they pushed their bodies to the limit with their suppressed strength, they built up their body's stamina to the point where they could almost compare to when their strength wasn't suppressed.
With the help of Baal, the duo had managed to significantly improve three aspects of their previous results. And moreover, they were not satisfied.
"Is it possible to increase the difficulty?" Gideon asked with some anticipation as he was nearly done with his new footwork technique, but he had reached a bottleneck as the difficulty was not high enough.
"Er, yeah, but that was for- You know what, make it 18x gravity." Baal was about to say that that was for the next training stage, but then he decided to screw that and just increased the difficulty right away. He would be lying if he said he wasn't feeling a little bit jealous.
The now 18x gravity bore down on the duo's suppressed bodies with a vengeance and their backs hunched. They were now facing nearly twice what they were used to and it made their bones creak. But they didn't even flinch as that was nothing compared to what they endured some days ago.
Soon enough, they managed to adapt to the heightened gravity and waited for the red beams to fire. And soon enough, they did.
This time however, their bodies were much more sluggish than before and even with their recent improvements, the difficulty was definitely much higher.
But instead of feeling discouraged, the siblings actually felt excited.
'Let's finish this thing today.' Gideon thought with a grin as his bright green eyes glowed. This difficulty was exactly what he was looking for and in the next moment, his legs turned into unpredictable afterimages.
He created this footwork based on a monster he fought back when he was still in the wilderness.
it was a crab, and I nearly killed him quite a few time when he fought it due to its unpredictable movements with its multiple legs making it hard to track. And as a result, he nearly got his head severed by its claws. He only beat it because he managed to sneak attack it and let his poison do its work.
Anyway, he tried to recreate it that time, but he eventually gave up as he simply didn't have the right environment to properly do so. But this gravity chamber changed that.
'Just a bit more.' Gideon thought with a head covered in sweat. His legs left afterimages that were very difficult to track and we're also random, just like the crab.
It was actually near impossible to make a footwork that was completely random while consciously thinking about it, so he was trying to do it unconsciously. And with his constantly improving instincts, he was merging it with this footwork technique. It sounded crazy, yet here he was doing it, and he was succeeding.
At some point, Gideon had forgotten all that was around and simply focused on merging the footwork with his instincts. He didn't even need to consciously need to dodge as his body did that itself.
As time passed, the unnatural movements of his legs became more fluid and Gideon became more comfortable moving like this.
'That kid, he's grasping something.' Baal said with wide eyes as even from the screen, he sensed that Gideon's entire person had changed. He also noticed that his strange footwork was improving by the second.
'There it is.' Gideon thought and opened his eyes and smiled faintly. He had succeeded.
*FWOOSH*
In and instant, Gideon appeared at three different parts of the chamber, it was so fast that other than Victoria, the red beams had momentarily lost their target.
"Such speed!"
"How can he move like that?!"
"Is he even human?!" Several of the demon scientist exclaimed in shock.
'This guy. Just who is he?' Baal thought with with utter shock. Just now, he wasn't able to clearly see how Gideon moved, all he saw was a blur. Even if his perception wasn't at maximum capacity, it was still shocking.
*BANG*
Gideon had miscalculated and ended up using all his energy in that last movement he made and so he was unable to dodge the red beams. Yet he was absolutely ecstatic.
'Isn't this the 'ultra instinct' from that old earth show?' Gideon thought with pure joy. He was completely unaware that this movement technique he just created is going to save him a lot in the future.
