Don Lucas's POV
*Six Years Ago*
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday happy birthday, happy birthday to you!!" My mom and dad sang the happy birthday song for me because I just clocked 16 years old.
It was a massive celebration because Don son of the Alberto family is 16, and another reason for a big celebration is that everything has been peaceful, and everything is going smoothly at the cartel, with no crisis as well.
My little sister named Cindy hugged me saying," Happy birthday brother."
"Awww isn't my little sis so cute." I kissed her cheek, gosh I love my sister so much.
After cutting my cake as mom wanted because she thinks I am still her two-year-old baby, the DJ started his music and everyone was in the mood of celebration.
My father sat with me took the Alberto ring from his finger and passed it to me," Happy Birthday son,this is for you."
"Really Dad?" I was so happy to get the ring from him.
"Lucas, you know I was twenty when my father gave me the ring, I had to prove to him that I deserve it."
"Then I don't think I am worthy of this ring yet, Let me prove myself to you."
He laughed and I wondered why, "You don't need to prove yourself to me, son, you are my blood you are way smarter than me and when you train hard, you will be stronger than me, I love you son and I promise myself I will give my son the best my father never did to me, you deserve the ring."
"If you say so Father, but I won't put it on till I know I have proved myself to you as an Alberto."
"Come here, my boy." He hugged me and just like that what turned out to be a happy day for me became a black Thursday as we got ambushed.
Bullets flew in from different angles and I had to hide immediately, I didn't know what to do, I had never pulled the trigger before.
My father threw a gun at me saying, "Protect your family Lucas, time to prove yourself."
Yes, this is it, I know how to pull the trigger because of a series of training but I have never pulled it out on someone.
I heard Cindy scream, I rushed to her aid then I saw someone pointing his gun at her, "Brother help me, I don't want to die."
"Let my sister go." I pointed the gun at him.
"Can you even pull the trigger, right, a sacrifice needs to trigger you,so sorry but the assignment was to wipe everyone at sight even if it's a baby."
I was shaking, the world was colliding on my head, and I needed to prove myself, still contemplating and telling myself I needed to protect my sister, father gave me my first assignment already, he shot my sister, and her innocent cute eyes remained looking at me, "Noooooooooo" I pulled the trigger and he hit him directly at his head and he dropped dead, I failed.
I cried holding my sister, now I didn't really care if I died, my sweet sister was gone, she was just six and they didn't care, "Wake up Cindy, I am sorry, please say something."
My father and mother rushed in covered in blood, "Damn those enemies, they must pay for this, Lucas you need to leave through the secret route with your mother right now and stay alive so one day you can restore Alberto's dignity."
"Father I failed. "
"Son, your sister is dead and the other family here with us are no more, be a man and leave with your mother, we lost today, and tomorrow we win, for now, I need you to be saved, I lost Cindy, I can't lose you."
My mother was in tears, I hugged him the last time and left with my mother but we never knew we were followed.
My mother noticed but she didn't tell me instead she pulled out her necklace that had a ring on it and passed it to me, "Son, when you find a lady you love with all your heart, give this to her and protect her with your life just the way your father protected me."
"Mom, what are you saying? You are not leaving me right?"
"No son, I just want you to have it as my birthday present to you." She smiled but tears were falling down her eyes.
"Listen, son, I love you so much and no matter what, love will ease your pain, now do me a favor, you see that route, take it, run as fast as your leg can carry you, my mother will be waiting to fly you out of the country."
"What about you mom?"
"I will be right behind you, now go." She yelled and I started running, "I love you, son."
Still running I heard loud gunshots, no, no, this is not happening, seems the person saw me.
I was running out of breath and a heavy downpour started. I missed my way and ended up in the bush, then I saw a very beautiful girl, "Are you okay?"
"Help me." That was the only word I said to her.
"Come with me." She said and she made me hide in between the animals.
She stepped out and I heard a voice asking her, "Hey little one, did you see any boy pass through the route?"
"Yes sir."
Betrayal, I thought she wanted to betray me immediately, what would I do?
"Which route did he take?"
"He went that way."
"Thank you, little girl."
Seems she didn't betray me at all, the thunder and lightning made me see a glimpse of her face, "You are safe now."
"Thank you so much, I am now in your debt, I must protect you at all cost in the future." I made my first promise to her.
She smiled at me saying, "You don't need to repay me, you look so sad, I don't know what happened to you but soon my father will be looking for me, make sure you take good care of yourself."
"Have this, I will remember you if I see this necklace on you, my mother gave it to me so value it, it's precious to me."
She cried saying, "Thank you so much but you don't have to give me something valuable, I am just trash."
"You are not trash, I will prove that to you in the future, I hope we meet again." She kissed my cheek and was about to run out, "What is your name?"
"Pen!!!" That was what I heard before my senses were turned off.
*Present*
"You betrayed the family, so I will let you save yourself, take this gun and shoot at me.!" I said to the betrayal and he grabbed the gun without hesitation and shot at me.
"Oops, I guess I forgot to add the bullet, too bad I will end the bullet in your head." I pulled the trigger and he landed dead.
Even if they are given the chance, they will never repent
"Clear this mess," I ordered.
"Yes don."
I entered the car and was ready to go home, I would just wash off the blood stains when I got home when I heard a lady scream for help, I don't normally care but for no reason, I was filled with rage.
"Stop the car."
"Yes don."
I stepped out and it was rainy, my driver brought an umbrella and I said to him, "Get back to the car."
"Yes don."
They were about to rape her, I won't tolerate such in my territory, I brought out the gun and each bullet ran through them, "Trash like these morons deserve to be in hell." I kissed my gun.
The lady passed out and I turned to leave but for no reason, I returned and carried her, what I have never done.
We got to the Alberto Mansion and I placed her on the bed for the house doctor to treat her.
"This has never happened before, Don brought in a girl himself?"
"Who is she to him?" They all gossip and I just ignore them because that's the least of my problems now.
