Bab 26: Unexpected Gains
"Ahh.. this fucking oversized monkey...that hurt.."
Helena muttered after having recovered with the help of the lesser health potion.
She gave the corpse of the dead yeti a kick and then an idea popped up in her head.
"Hmm..is there something valuable in this thing's body?"
Helena proceeded to try and butcher the corpse of the yeti in the hopes of finding something valuable.
She once heard of something like magical cores in story books.
This yeti might have something similar to such cores since its strength was terrifying.
After one hour.
"Damn! Why is this thing so huge!"
"Cutting through the tough flesh of this damned yeti is so difficult!"
Helena complained.
"C..Captain? What are you doing?"
Sabre, a squad leader, wondered what was taking Helena so long to leave the cave so he went in to check on Helena.
"Sabre? How's Alex and Leif's condition?"
"Reporting to the captain! Squad leaders Alex and Leif are still unconscious; however, their conditions seem to have stabilized upon drinking two lesser health potions each."
"I see.. That's good.. Oh right! Since you're here, help me call the other squad leaders. Help me butcher this damn ape."
"Roger."
After the short conversation, Sabre proceeded to walk out of the cave to call for help.
"Warren, Zander, the captain ordered us to help her butcher the yeti."
"Butcher…that huge ape?"
"Yeah."
"Alright let's go then."
The three squad leaders proceeded to enter the cave again.
"Captain! we're here."
"Good, come! Help me, you guys cut its arms and legs open and see what's inside. I'll see what's inside its heart."
Helena ordered the three squad leaders to start cutting up the flesh of the body parts assigned to them.
It's true that more people butchering will make it faster but she didn't call the new warriors to help simply because they were not strong enough to cut deeply into the flesh of the yeti.
Their energies will just be wasted trying to cut through with minimal results.
A few hours later, all four of them finally finished cutting open their assigned body parts.
The results of the limbs surprised them, there seemed to be a tender piece of meat inside the limbs.
Although they don't know if it is safe to consume, they still took the "prime" meat with them for Blanc to examine.
The chest area was even more shocking though, there was no heart!
Instead, in its place, there was a huge spherical ball with a size that is comparable to that of a very small cannon ball.
The spherical ball had the consistency of a dough and a faint cold sort of gas was continuously being emitted from it.
"What...the hell is this?"
After a few moments of awe, Helena stored the ball carefully in her storage bag.
"We managed to harvest a few good stuff, Blanc will surely have a use for this. Let's head back to everyone."
Helena, together with three of the squad leaders, left the cave.
"Alex! Leif! How are you two feeling?"
"Reporting to the captain! We have recovered thanks to the lesser potion. Also, we apologize for our errors during the battle. You almost lost your life due to our errors."
Alex and Leif sincerely bowed in gratitude, they made a mistake in charging towards the yeti to try and finish it off.
They were caught in its trap which caused Helena to almost lose her life in protecting them.
"Don't mind it, I'm fine anyway. Besides, that shitty oversized ape was too cunning. It's not your fault."
"Thanks Captain.."
"Let's spend the night here and move towards the mushroom cave tomorrow. Rest and recover for now."
Helena made the call to camp here for the night.
Early in the morning.
"Troops! Line up!"
"Yes!...Captain!"
After the troops finished their breakfast, they were ordered back into formation by Helena.
"Let's go! Onwards to the mushroom cave!"
Helena ordered the troops.
After a day of walking, they were finally in front of the mushroom cave.
They entered the cave and Helena was shocked.
"Aren't there a lot more mushrooms compared to before?"
Helena was pleasantly surprised by the developments in the mushroom cave. Seems like these mushrooms grow endlessly inside the cave.
"Everyone! Get every mushroom you can find until your bags are full!"
The troops soon followed her orders and started to gather the mushrooms until their bag was full.
