Morning came, Helena and her men were currently preparing for battle.
Today, they shall march to the Kobold town and wipe out the kobolds in order to seize the white flower field.
After half an hour of preparation, Helena and her men were ready.
They started their march towards the kobold town and after an hour of marching, they were finally at the gates.
The kobolds were locals here and their information network cannot be underestimated.
Helena and her men were greeted by kobolds in defensive formation.
It seems that the kobolds were already aware of their attack.
They didn't care though, as the men believed in their own training and they knew that as long as they stayed in formation, these kobolds could not do anything to them.
They had faith that their battalion commanders and their general Helena would win against the elite kobolds.
Soon, the two armies were staring at each other.
Helena saw the kobold chief standing behind the kobolds and it was looking at them as if they were free food who delivered themselves to its doorsteps.
"How pretentious…Let's see if you can still be arrogant once I beat you up later." Helena muttered to herself
"Men! These kobolds are determined to mess with us! We gave them a chance yesterday to drop this matter but they didn't! Let's make these mutts regret their impulsive decisions and seize the flower fields! Attack!"
The battle began as Helena ordered her men to charge at the kobolds.
Although they were outnumbered, they knew that they were stronger so they charged at the kobolds without hesitation.
Swords clashed against spears and arrows came flying towards the kobolds.
After half an hour of combat, it was clear which side was winning.
The kobolds were slowly getting pushed back by Helena's army despite their numbers.
Helena and the ten battalion commanders were killing multiple kobolds left and right as if they were mowing down grass.
The kobold chief and its ten close aides couldn't bear to see the humans rampage in their territory anymore so they decided to join the fray and intercepted Helena and her battalion commanders.
Ten aides versus ten battalion commanders.
Helena versus the kobold chief.
The numbers matched and whoever wins the battle of the elites will surely win the whole battle.
Each individual battle in this eleven versus eleven match-up is extremely crucial. If someone is defeated, it would lead to an imbalance of elites.
The winner will then proceed to help their allies and slowly but surely wipe out the opposing elite party.
The battle of Helena and the kobold chief is even more important.
They were the "pillars" of their army. If they lose, the morale of their army will surely crumble and will lead to defeat.
The soldiers and the regular kobolds knew that the result of the battle rested in the hands of these elites.
They couldn't help but be distracted to sneak glances at the eleven versus eleven elite battle.
"What? Can't watch anymore as I slaughter your kin? You should've fought me right from the start instead of being pretentious and acting so high and mighty at the back!"
"Battalion commanders! Follow me! Charge!"
The elite battle has finally begun.
Helena slashed her Salamandr towards the kobold chief.
The same could be said for the battalion commanders as they started to attack the aides who had come to intercept them.
After a few seconds, the kobolds almost couldn't believe what they were seeing.
Their elites were sent sliding back and it looks like they've lost in terms of raw strength.
The kobolds' morale started to waver as they saw their elites getting pushed back by the human elites.
Just a few moments later, one of the eleven battles already had a winner.
Unexpectedly, it wasn't Helena who won the first battle.
A kobold elite fell down to the ground as its head popped like a balloon while parts of its brain went flying everywhere.
It was Eden… He looked down arrogantly on the fallen corpse of the kobold elite.
The archers were pleasantly surprised, they didn't expect their battalion commander to be this strong.
They were shocked because after they saw Eden send the kobold elite sliding back with a quick slash of his sword, Eden immediately drew his bow and started pulling on the nock as the kobold elite was still trying to regain its balance.
A green vortex slowly started to form around the arrowhead as Eden was pulling the bowstrings.
Finally, after he released the arrow, a small green vortex accompanied by a gale surrounded the arrow as it flew towards the kobold elite's head.
Powershot!
The kobold elite didn't even get a chance to react as its head popped like a balloon and its lifeless body fell to the ground.
After a few moments of utter shock and disbelief…
"OHHHHHHH!!!! Take that you mutts!!!"
"Commander Eden!!"
"Damn!! Commander Eden is this strong already?!"
Helena's men started cheering after Eden quickly disposed of his opponent.
He has already stepped into the ranks of rangers. A little kobold elite like this one poses no threat to him.
Helena smirked as she took a quick glance at Eden.
Memories of Eden lagging behind the other battalion commanders in terms of swordsmanship flashed back to her.
"Not bad Eden! You're this strong now huh?"
Helena felt pride after seeing Eden show off his prowess in archery.
She knew that Eden was the hardest worker out of all the battalion commanders so she was happy that the results of his efforts were finally evident on the battlefield.
"Tch! What the hell? That was scary…"
"Fuck! Eden! Since when were you this strong?!"
"Shit! That was fast…I need to finish my battle too."
The other battalion commanders were both shocked and happy as they couldn't help but voice out their comments after getting outdone by Eden.
They always saw Eden as their little brother since they thought that he was the weakest out of all of them.
It seems that they were wrong though, Eden has already left them in the dust in terms of overall combat power so they vowed to work harder in the future.
The kobold elites' mentality was affected by the defeat of their comrade.
Alexander and the rest of the battalion commanders were already winning even when the kobold elites were at their peak mentality.
Since their morale decreased, the other kobold elites started to lose their own battles.
A few more minutes passed and all the kobold elites were completely wiped out.
The men's morale skyrocketed as they watched their battalion commanders destroy the enemy elites.
Now, only the kobold chief remains.
As long as Helena could defeat the kobold chief, victory is theirs.
The men had absolute faith in her.
They believed that she wouldn't lose to anyone in a duel so they were watching the battle intently to learn from their general's swordsmanship.
"Haaaah…You guys are finally done with your opponents. Now, all eyes are on me." Helena muttered to herself as she smiled at the kobold chief.
*HAAAAWRRRRRGHH*
Is this human still smiling? Is she underestimating me?!
The kobold chief roared in rage upon seeing Helena's smile and charged at her.
"Ha! Do you think we're on the same level? If only Eden didn't beat me to it I would've killed you way earlier."
Helena is currently trying to perfect a finisher skill so she didn't immediately kill this kobold chief.
She prepared to execute her killer move as a thin magic circle suddenly appeared on her legs.
Helena activated her dash skill and she dashed forward as she slashed her sword vertically downward.
Salamandr started to ignite in response to Helena's intense slash.
"ORRAAAHH!!!"
The kobold chief was surprised by the sudden speed boost so it was forced to quickly swing its double-headed axe diagonally upwards to clash against Helena's Salamandr.
*HAAAAAAWWWWWWRRRRRGHH!"
*CLANG*
*SPURT*
The two weapons clashed but it didn't take a long time before the stalemate of weapons was broken as the double-headed great axe was slashed in half along with the kobold chief.
After a few seconds, the kobold chief's dead body was devoured by flames, and in the end, only its ashes were left.
Seeing what happened to their chief, the kobolds started to flee in horror.
Unfortunately for them, they were cornered inside the walls of their town. The kobolds had nowhere to run!
The men were cheering wildly and their morale was through the roof as they continued slaughtering the fleeing kobolds.
Half an hour later, all the kobolds were wiped out.
Finally, they successfully seized the white flower field and it was a decisive victory for Helena and her men.
