Bab 18: Little Green Shits
The enemies started to pour out from the surrounding shrubbery.
Upon seeing the enemies, the squad's pupils constricted as they had seen another unbelievable scene.
Goblins!
Green beings a bit smaller than humans started to encircle them, they were thin but they were fairly muscular.
They had red eyes, long ears and nose, sharp fangs, and they were holding different kinds of weapons such as stone blades, wooden spears.
Fortunately though, they seem easy to kill since they were only wearing ragged pieces of cloth around the lower half of their bodies.
The only problem is their numbers, but as long as they can escape their encirclement, with their short legs and thin physiques, they are sure they can outrun such creatures.
"Everyone! Calm down! Look at these pipsqueaks, although they look hideous, they look weak as shit. Focus on the direction that I am facing. I will cut open a path for us, make sure to follow quickly and don't get left behind!"
Helena rallied her squad and immediately gave a command.
This seemed to snap her squad out of confusion and focus on their goal to escape the encirclement.
They could probably win while paying a small price when they were in peak condition but currently, they were really tired from the constant travelling and fighting.
Although they could probably still wipe out this small group of goblins right now, they would have to pay a fairly big price for it.
It was just not worth it, so the plan is to escape for now and take revenge later.
"Move out of the way you little shits!"
Helena started swinging her sword and successively cut down seven goblins.
A pathway is open for the squad!
They quickly took advantage of the small gap and rushed through.
When it seemed that the escape would be successful, a slightly larger goblin which seemed to be the leader of this small group rushed desperately and held on to a warrior's leg.
"Alright we're through!"
"Wait, there's only nine of us."
"Eden!"
The group looked back and saw that Eden was unable to successfully escape the encirclement.
Although he was desperately fighting for his life, It was visible that he would not be able to hold on for long.
"Damn it! Everyone, Charge!!! Help Eden!" Helena commanded.
The squad did not hesitate and charged forward to fight the goblins.
Although a bit dumb, the goblins know how to help each other in combat. With the current skill level of the warriors, they could at most handle two goblins at a time.
With this, twenty goblins were tangled up in a fight with the warriors while Helena handled the remaining twenty.
Having initially slain seven goblins, she is currently fighting thirteen goblins alone.
Helena started to slowly accumulate small wounds from her fight against thirteen goblins.
As expected, although she was strong, it was quite hard to fight off thirteen enemies at once. In addition to this, the goblins started to adapt to Helena's aggressive fighting style.
Helena and her squad still started to overpower the goblins although they were getting wounded in the process.
The goblin's numbers were dwindling as they were slowly cut down one by one.
The warriors were gradually able to win their battles and were preparing to come and help their captain eliminate the remaining goblins.
"Captain! watch out!"
The goblin leader managed to sneak behind Helena and thrusted its spear forward.
"Kuahkkk!"
Helena spat out a small amount of blood upon getting stabbed at the back.
"H..How dare you! you little shit!"
Helena growled in anger as she pointed her sword at the goblin leader's head.
She stabbed her sword towards the goblin's head but shockingly, the goblin's head was stabbed by something like a faint white sharp light coming from her sword.
Helena was confused by how she managed to kill that one but quickly brought back her focus and finished off all the remaining goblins.
A few moments later, all the goblins were slain.
Helena and her warriors were breathing heavily after fighting a hard battle.
Blood kept flowing through Helena's back since she was stabbed fairly deep.
After seeing the wounds of their captain, the warriors panicked and they quickly tried to bandage Helena's wounds.
"Calm down you dumb shitheads! I'm okay. Wash the wound with our remaining water and then quickly bring me to the cave with lots of mushrooms.
Helena instructed the warriors.
They quickly complied to the command and provided support for Helena as they walked towards the cave of glowing mushrooms.
Although this will delay their return, it is better to treat the wound first before going back.
After a day of travelling towards the mushroom cave, Helena's condition worsened.
She was sweating profusely and groaning from the pain. Fortunately, they were already in front of the cave entrance.
"Get me some of those red glowing ones"
The warriors were mesmerized upon seeing the beauty of lots of growing mushrooms.
Eden couldn't appreciate the beauty at this time though, he immediately picked a few red glowing mushrooms for Helena's recovery.
"Here, captain."
Eden said as he gave the mushrooms to Helena.
"I'm very sorry. I dragged everyone down when I failed to escape the encirclement."
Eden continued as he bowed his head towards Helena.
*Bonk*
"What the fuck are you talking about? We're comrades here, Don't underestimate the bonds formed from going through several life and death moments together."
"To them, you're like a brother already, and to me, you're one of my precious students. Of course we're gonna save you from those little green shits!"
Helena said as she hit Eden's head with the hilt of her sword.
"Yes, captain!"
Eden was touched as he inwardly swore to be stronger and be able to do the same for his comrades and captain in the future.
