Bab 140: A Sneak Attack on Blasridge City
A man who was recently observing the river on the left side of Blasridge City was running towards the castle inside the city, panic evident on his face.
He was one of the top scouts of the Rougenfort Kingdom. Initially, he was a bit dissatisfied after hearing that he would be assigned to watch the river on the left side of Blasridge city instead of watching the important areas near Fort Shadowsong.
Now, he fully understood that his role here was way more important than idling around in Fort Shadowsong.
He sprinted as if his life depended on it after seeing a small army bearing the flag of the Samara Kingdom trying to cross the river.
They were trying to directly attack Blasridge City!

Arlo Heisenburg was doing his daily tasks inside Blasridge City's castle when suddenly, the door of his study blasted open.
"Your Excellency, the king was right! I saw a small army of elites bearing the flag of the Samara Kingdom trying to cross the river on the west side of Blasridge City!"
Arlo's eyes widened after hearing the urgent report.
He thought that Blanc was overthinking when he said that they should be ready to fight at all times, good thing he still followed the king's orders even though he initially thought that the king was being a bit too paranoid.
"What?!"
Arlo immediately stood up and headed towards the training grounds inside the city to find Sabre.
Fortunately, Blanc decided to send Sabre, who was a half-step Swordmaster instead of Alexander to defend Blasridge city in case the enemy attacked.
Sabre was a bit dissatisfied after being removed from the Battle of Fort Shadowsong but who would've thought that he would play a huge part as well?
After Arlo arrived at the training grounds, he immediately informed Sabre about the situation.
Of course, Sabre was just as shocked as Arlo after hearing about the situation. He immediately bid Arlo goodbye to rally the 2,250 men assigned to defend Blasridge City.
A few minutes passed and the entire army was already in formation inside the training grounds.
Sabre stood in front and gave them a brief explanation about the current situation.
"Men! Our wise king was correct. A small army of elites bearing the flag of the Samara Kingdom was spotted trying to cross the river on the west side of the city!"
"The scouts reported that the enemy numbers were around 3,500 men. However, we have always fought as the underdogs and we've never lost a single battle. Let's show these bastards what we Rougenfortians are made of! We shall defend the city and deliver glorious news to those fighting at Fort Shadowsong!"

After the brief explanation session, Sabre immediately started giving out orders towards each unit who then marched towards their designated positions with determined looks on their faces.
They already experienced the good life under Blanc's rule and they would never let any other kingdom ruin the peaceful lives of their families living in the Rougenfort Kingdom.
One hour quickly passed.
The Samara Kingdom's sneaky army finally arrived in front of Blasridge City, however, upon seeing that the enemy wasn't panicking at all and was fully prepared to face them, the Samara Kingdom's army wavered.
They thought that this would be an easy fight because all of the opponent's men were assigned to defend Fort Shadowsong but reality slapped them harshly in the face.
Blanc completely read the possibility of them attacking from the river and so, he assigned some men to defend the city.
Seeing that his men were wavering, the general of the Samara Army spoke.
"Men! Fear not! Being ready for our attack doesn't mean they could successfully defend! I'm sure that no one can stop me inside this puny city!"
"OHHHH!!!"
"Long live General Gunther!"
"Long live General Gunther!"
The enemy recovered their lost morale after an impeccable speech from General Gunther.
After seeing the enemy's enthusiasm, Sabre couldn't help but clench his fists in annoyance.
"Tch! What are you getting so excited about? Eager to die so early?"
Sabre muttered to himself as he stood on top of the city walls, waiting for the enemy to start their attack.
The enemy didn't make him wait for too long as they immediately started attacking with a few siege ladders and battering rams.
Unfortunately, Blasridge City only has men to defend. They didn't even have a single Resonance Ballista set up on top of the walls.
Due to this, the small number of one hundred archers weren't able to deal too much damage to the charging infantry.
As a result, the Samara Kingdom's army easily reached the gates and started attacking it with battering rams.
Still, climbing the walls proved to be a bit too difficult using only ladders so the main force focused on destroying the city gates.
