Bab 106: A Token Of Gratitude

Olga blinked as she noticed the hesitation on the face of her mistress. A chuckle escaped her lips that surprised both of them. But then, she shook her head.

"A shallow person would never agree that she is shallow. But I do not understand you, your grace. Why would a perfect woman like you be jealous of me? I neither have a name or fame. Nor am I rich or beautiful but you are a duchess." her voice had innocence and amazement as if she was in awe with Evangeline. But it only made Evangeline bit her lips hard.

How could she explain it to Olga? who looked so pure while she..

"I heard that Damien had saved you from fire." she knew she must be sounding like a fool, a pathetic jealous fool but Olga paused. And understanding flashed in her eyes.

"Your grace never looked at me twice, your grace. He saved me but not because he was attracted to me or anything. But he saved me because he held himself responsible for what happened to me.
