Dante's POV

"Why would you call Jackson?" Celine whispered, her hands running through her hair.

"You weren't truthful to me, Celine. I had to ask." I took a step further and narrowed my gaze.

The Celine I knew was not who visited me. This wasn't the woman I dated for a long time. She had completely changed, I could barely recognize her.

"If I tried to explain myself now, you will not believe me, so just believe the worst you can." Celine avoided my gaze.

"No, no," I sat beside her, "If I didn't want to believe you, I wouldn't be here. I'm here because I do not want to assume things. Talk to me, Celine." I patted her lightly on her back.

As much as I didn't believe her or expect her to say the truth, I still wanted to make her believe she had my trust, or maybe I just wished she would say the truth.
