Drog's sacrifice kept the warriors' motivation burning which in the end became a great catalyst not just for the warriors' escape but Knock's brave sacrifice.

The Void Raven was supposed to be a secret weapon of his side, Legolas outwitted him and turned this weapon against him.

He never expected Legolas to know a Void Raven though.
