For reasons I still do not understand, I emerged from the dark abyss of death.
In more precise terms, I came back from the dead exactly one hour ago in a sudden way. Like blinking.
However, I did so in a younger body, a body that was not originally mine.
I found myself as a teenager who resided in an apartment in the city of Sendai, located in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
And it was not his apartment... until a few days ago.
This young man, named Noah, had, like me, experienced the tragic loss of his parents in a mysterious accident.
If coincidences exist, this would be one of them.
But unlike me, Noah, overwhelmed by grief, fell into a deep depression and ended up taking his own life. That brought me to this point.
Information about these circumstances was uncovered through the suicide note Noah left behind, which allowed me to understand my situation.
This was different from those who had conveniently obtained the memories of their predecessors.
Fortunately or unfortunately.
"Haaa..." I took a deep breath of air, releasing the complex emotions that were now flooding me.
On the other hand, Noah's parents were people of some renown, so I wouldn't have to worry about money anytime soon.
"If they hadn't died," I muttered, "Noah would have enjoyed a life of privilege."
... Perhaps it was that very comfort and the love he felt for his parents that prevented him from enduring such pressure and sadness.
But, that's not the end of it, because as it pertains to situations like that,
I naturally acquired my golden finger or cheat!
My attention was riveted on a game interface that seemed to hover in mid-air, and that I could summon with a mere thought.
It was as if I had always known of its existence, yet only now was its presence made manifest.
Within this ethereal window, words were meticulously arranged, forming a message that was as clear as it was unexpected.
[Uh, this is more awkward than a penguin in a desert! First, let me apologize. And second, I am what on your planet they would call the Big Boss, the Almighty, the Big Cheese... yes, God. Due to a small glitch in the system I sent you to the other side prematurely. Again, my apologies...]
The message didn't end there. I shifted my gaze, my expression blank, to the continuation of the text.
[... As a form of compensation, I have decided to grant you a return ticket to life. However, it will be a slightly different dimension than your own, and you will be bestowed with a gift that may prove more useful than a pocket on a T-shirt. I hope you appreciate this rare opportunity, as elusive as a unicorn performing a flamenco dance, which is only granted to a select few.]
"..."
Okay, that sure was an oddly and peculiarly worded message. But I did not give it more importance than I thought necessary and pertinent.
Nevertheles, I didn't complain.
I had nothing to lose by dying in my previous life. Not to mention that I was a lonely person.
Therefore, I had no deep bonding friends or a girlfriend that I would miss.
Likewise, I was sure that my relatives, whom I hadn't spoken to since the funeral, would be fine without me.
These were circumstances that, for a web novel author, would be very helpful. They were also beneficial to me, for obvious reasons.
All in all, I find myself rejuvenated and with a benefit that could make my life easier.
"And speaking of that gift..." As I focused my thoughts, in front of my eyes, a new interface appeared.
+
[ Sharingan.]
[Current status: 1 tomoe.]
[Experience for the next level: 0 / 500.]
+
Yes, as you can see, the absurdly powerful eyes of the Uchiha clan on Naruto, were the gift that was given to me by God.
The benefits were clear.
This gift grants enhanced vision, allowing me to perceive movements and subtle details more clearly.
It also gives me the ability to copy and memorize techniques from others. And so I am allowed to learn and use their skills.
And more.
Although this should be used for other things, more... Ordinary. Nothing of a superhuman nature, I mean.
This was not the Ninja world with an energy like Chakra.
Likewise, as I considered the value and influence of Chakra in the whole equation, many and varied questions filled my head.
For example, how could it be possible for me to use Sharingan?
On the other hand, I had yet to discover how to evolve these eyes to the next and better levels: two tomoe, three tomoe, among others.
It could be the same as in the Anime, in which the user had to experience life-and-death situations or great emotional stress.
Although knowing that method can and would certainly reduce some of its effectiveness.
But, it is something undoubtedly important if I want to get more and better benefits from these red eyes.
"... I guess there's a lot of research and analysis to be done."
Also, I wondered, "Why would such a power be necessary...?!" It was then that a part of the message sent by God, took on more weight.
Out loud, I repeated, "... To make it up to you, I have decided to give you a ticket back to life. But, in a slightly different dimension than yours."
... A dimension different than yours. Perhaps the thin thread that connected me to others had been severed in its entirety.
I was curious to know what was different in this dimension from the one to which I belonged before.
But so far, I hadn't noticed anything unique or distinct.
Oh yes, I almost forgot.
I transmigrated on the same day of my death with a few hours difference due to the time difference between Japan and the United States.
Anyway, I hoped it wasn't dangerous. I didn't want to die again; it had been an experience that, although quick, quite painful.
Every time I ventured to dig once more into that corner of my memories, I allowed a painful shadow to take hold of my being.
So, I pondered with my arms folded and my head bowed, trying to decide what I should do next...
"Let's start with the best, I guess." Ultimately, it was a power or ability that a human being should not possess.
Eagerly and curiously, I focused on activating the Dōjutsu or Copy Wheel Eye!
Quickly, I felt a surge of energy coursing through my body, as if an electric current was running through me.
My eyes began to burn, a burning sensation that was not painful, but rather exhilarating.
In addition, my vision became blurry for a moment before clearing with an unearthly sharpness.
Colors became more vivid, and details cleaner. I could see the world through my eyes in a way I had never experienced before.
It was as if I had been seeing through a veil all this time and now, that veil had been lifted, finally.
In short, the video quality went from 420p to 1080p.
