Bab 5: Am I really gonna die??
Scream could be heard of help. Stomping of the earth echoed by murmuring people who hurriedly rushing to the scene. Among them was also our protagonist group observing the scenario.
Flashback
Some minutes ago where our protagonist group are chatting in tea stall , on the other side , workers or newly members of association are working on cleaning up and collecting sample material from the near turnel location with utter most safety.
Ayushman been the incharge of the work was helping hand in hand . He is in his mid 30s and recently completed his PhD .Sharp mind and deep understanding was the areas he excelled. Given the duty by Rahul, he sincerely did his work along with 15 more of his co worker.
" Sir we have evidence of pottery and brass jewellery in area near the turnel" exclaimed one of his female coworkers.
Ayushman - Take me the recollected pieces of the evidence.
Upon keenly noting the material, the material recovered looked atleast 7,000 year old as the pottery looks much more older that pottery recoved in Dhorlam vera which was atleast 5,000-5,500 years old .
Halting the work at other site and ordered to focus on the area near turnel to recover more of the material buried underground .
While working, one of the coworkers slipped due to soft mud and was about to fall in the dugged up hole only to be pushed back by Ayushman.
As a result, he fell into the hole barely holding upto uneven wall .
Co worker rushed to the hole . Some of the kept an eye on the place while other went back to bring rescue equipment and to ask for help from others .
Flashback over
Situation is quite dire.
Vivek - we need to rescue him , he won't be able to hold any more .
One of co worker - We know sir , preperation is almost done .
Rahul- "I told you all to be carefull around the turnel . Sigh' Gather up all people in rescue team " he said loudly "And the other stop crowding and return back to your work ".
Crowd soon began to disperse . Around the conner in the tent sat the co worker, Sahil , who was been pushed out of the way by Ayushman , depressed and blaming himself for the situation.
Srivastav looked and walk up to him - "You don't need to blame yourself for it . Accident happens ...
Before he could complete the sentence, Sahil - How could I not !! if only I was more careful, I wouldn't have fell and he won't be in such situation " His eyes began coved by mist ,stood up and went outside.
Srivastav stood there and sighed. From back Rajendra said" he is blaming himself isn't he ? " turning around he replied with a yes and again sighed .
Preperation was completed.
Srivastav walk up to the rescue group and asked to volunteer the rescue . At first they denied due to his age but insisting by giving the example of him been a Marcos commander and throughout his career having conducting much deadly that this , they agreed. Preparing him self for the rescue mission. Checking and rechecking his gears , with help of team he tied himself with rescue rope and took a extra rope for Ayushman.
R1- we are ready to conduct the mission.
R2- all in position sir
R3 - we have coordinates of Ayushman here.
Srivastav - let begin the operation
As soon as all are in set, the mission began . Slowly R4 and R5 begins to lower the rope . Down underground , Ayushman was barely holding up to the wall of turnel , his hand we're slipping . It was he will power that he was still holding onto it . And scarce of O2 was doing any good. He was barely conscious enough.
Slowly Srivastav reached out for him until he is parallel to him.
Slowly putting and tiring the ropes around his body . Putting the temporary oxygen masks around Ayushman's mouth . Ayushman beathe in relief. He thank all the gods and Srivastav for it. Slowly our protagonist pulled the rope in order to give them a signal .
Recieving the signal above , the rescue team began pulling both of them out. Once Ayushman was out, he was taken to medical camp for checkup.
What nobody anticipated or took into account was that kashmir was a earthquake prone areas. Unexpectedly , 127 km away the land was hid by earthquake of magnitude 6.9 .The shockway hid the land underground, the entire site was shaking. Researcher and worker began panicking. People ran to safe zone to protect themselves. Soil began uncoordinately shifting. The earth was in ruins. The ropes that were holding Srivastav begin to break apart. Soon the ropes broke and he fell into un ending darkness. The turnel passage covered. The last barely visible light was visible no more .
As he was falling Srivastav had only one thought " Am I really gonna die"
