Leo decided to not think about the location anymore and simply chose to open the door.
The interior of the house was exactly what Leo had expected.
There was a single room and it was mostly filled with wooden furniture.
There wasn't even a couch in the room.
The one thing that did pull Leo's attention was the fireplace.
The fireplace had recently been restocked as there was fresh wood in it.
Leo was so busy observing the room that he hadn't even noticed the woman sitting on the chair at the table in front of him until she called out to him.
"So you did make it after all, I honestly didn't think you had it in you."
Leo looked to where the voice came from and saw a woman in her late twenty's sitting on a wooden chair.
She wore a white blouse with a small black jacket over it.
She looked a lot like a butler except for the fact that the part of the blouse near her hands was stained red.
It didn't look recent, it had been washed multiple times resulting in the red being a bit lighter.
However, Leo instantly recognized that it was blood.
Leo sat down at the opposite side of the woman before speaking.
"So you're the one who orchestrated this all."
"The one and only, it is a pleasure meeting you, Leo.", said the woman before picking up a pack of cigarettes and taking one out.
"You want one too?", she asked.
"No thank you.", responded Leo.
"Whatever floats your boat.", said the woman before lighting the cigarette and taking a puff.
She exhaled the smoke before continuing.
"So, tell me about your little adventures at site Phobos, since two insurgents told me you did something absolutely amazing."
Leo sighed.
"Since they told you already, do I really have to reiterate it all?"
"Yep, I wanna hear it from your mouth since there surely are details that they missed or that you haven't told yet."
"I will keep this brief for now, once the backup generator died I pried open the door of my containment chamber and exited my containment. There I slaughtered and sneaked my way into a conference room where an executive was waiting, I tortured him to death before shapeshifting into him and stealing his clearance."
Valentina interrupted Leo.
"Hold up, why did you torture him to death specifically?"
Leo's reply was quick and casual.
"Oh, don't think he was an exception, almost all of the people I killed at that site died a painful and horrible death, as for why I simply felt like it. Do you want the details perhaps?"
Valentina waved her hand.
"Yeah, no thank you."
Leo continued with his summary, but the next part was hard for him to say.
"After getting the clearance card, I killed some more guards and reached SCP-966, I killed it and stole its power."
Valentina's eyes widened.
"Wait... You can steal the power of SCPs you kill?"
"Pretty much, it only lasts for a while and I have no control over it though. The time duration mostly depends on the powers of the anomaly."
Leo was once again, bluffing hard.
Valentina would've questioned Leo harder if he didn't mention how he escaped out of the site after arming the nuclear warhead, since it certainly wouldn't be an easy task.
Sure, Leo could've said that he killed another guard and shapeshifted into him to make his escape, but it would not be possible because the guard would be punished for going to the light containment zone instead of going to the heavy containment zone in order to assist in securing the warhead room.
That is why Leo chose to give some form of truth, but change it ever so slightly.
However, this discovery was astonishing to Valentina.
"So you are saying you can quite literally copy the power of an SCP for a while?"
"Yep, that is it. Pretty sure the anomaly has to be dead though."
Valentina leaned forward and looked Leo in the eyes.
"I don't think you realize how good this is, if we find the right anomaly you will practically be unstoppable, do you understand that or not?"
Revamp is going well lads!
"Don't think that I do not realize that, but finding the right anomaly is already hard enough, not to mention that I don't know if I can use it at all."
"What do you mean with that?"
"Well, as far as I know some abilities have the negative side effect of distorting reality around me, bending it. This has a chance of killing me, that is why there is a limitation on the time of an ability."
Valentina sighed.
"Alright, continue."
Leo continued.
"After obtaining the SCP-966 form which granted me temporary invisibility, I made my way to the nuclear warhead room and I armed it before using the invisibility to escape."
Valentina shot Leo a cautious look.
"I feel like you are forgetting to mention something to me."
Leo thought for a while before responding.
"Oh, right. I stole SCP-170 as well which is practically a substance that binds two objects at an atomical level, I used that on the door to the warhead room so they could not re-enter."
"And after that you escaped from the site and the warhead detonated, right?", said Valentina.
"Yep, that is about it."
Valentina took another puff from her cigarette before extinguishing it in the ashtray.
"Now Leo, I have a couple more questions, but first I want to confirm something for my sake."
"What is it?", asked Leo.
"You used to work for the MC&D, didn't you?"
Leo's heart skipped a beat.
He expected this topic to be brought up, but it was really important to him.
The insurgency had ties to the MC&D so there was a realistic chance that they would exchange him back to the MC&D.
If that happened separating again would be really hard.
However, lying wasn't an option because he was sitting in front of a delta command member, she could simply give a few orders and she would find out herself.
"Yes, I was. What about it?", asked Leo in a tense tone.
A smug smile appeared on Valentina's face as she took out another cigarette and lighted it.
"Say, do you know anyone that goes by the name Iris Dark, or Iris Darke?", asked Valentina.
"Yeah, she was my appointed manager at MC&D, first Percival dealt with me but he was too busy so he ordered Iris to do it, that way she could get experience."
The smile on Valentina's face kept growing wider before asking another question.
"Tell me, were you important?"
"I guess so, I was one of the special agents and the only one being taken care of by Iris, if you can even call it taken care of."
Suddenly Valentina started chuckling.
The chuckling quickly turned into laughing before switching to maniacal laughing.
Leo didn't want to admit it, but at this point he really did fear for his life.
Valentina continued to laugh for a while before stopping and speaking.
"Oh, I finally got that bitch good!"
Leo was surprised upon hearing this.
"What do you mean?", asked Leo.
Valentina relit her cigarette before speaking.
"Me and her go back a long, long time ago. Back when I was a new delta command member she came over to introduce herself as one of the representatives of MC&D, during her introduction I didn't like her tone and I let her know. She threw a temper tantrum here on how I wasn't fit for a leadership role and since then she has been trying to sabotage me in subtle ways, mostly just minor inconveniences like delayed weapon shipments and delayed anomaly shipments, I've never been able to get back at that snob since the insurgency is allied with them, but it looks like I hit the jackpot with you!"
Leo remained silent for a second before sighing.
"You seriously had me scared there, but I totally agree with you. Before I went on my final mission where I got captured I called her a bitch, I already had a feeling that something was wrong with the mission but I knew that protesting to her would be useless. The only thing on her mind is money, and that is about it."
"I totally agree with you Leo, but we have arrived at my last question.
"And that would be...?", asked Leo.
Valentina stood up and extended her hand to Leo.
"Would you like to be my right-hand man?"
