I did, avoiding the maw that came my way again, overshooting it by a dozen meters, which gave me a bird’s view of what was happening…and I found out that the pool was full of bloodshot eyes that were staring at me hungrily.

‘What even are those things? Aren’t they too big to fit into that tiny pool?’

‘Probably Panlong. Monstrous crocodiles that were supposed to only exist in myths…just like nymphs. Once we meet Shen Mu again, remind me to ask him how all these supernatural creatures came to be.’

‘Now who’s getting distracted?’ I turned in the air and clapped in front of me, the resulting gale changed my trajectory so that I would land on the stone where Yin was, but even as I did so, one of the many eyes zeroed on me exploded out of the water in my direction.
