Chapter 1
Emilia
The Queen of lugnica Emilia Natsuki, along with her quarter-elf daughter was currently at a neighboring street of japan with a confused expression.
"Where…?"
Emilia was confused, very confused, she couldn't process what happened, just a second ago she and her daughter were at the castle's garden playing.
And now, they were standing at an unfamiliar place. Emilia's first action was to grab her child next to her so that she could protect her from whatever dangers around her.
"Mommy? Where are we?" Her daughter asked with curiosity and confusion.
"I-i don't know Chocorina….mommy doesn-" Emilia's body flinched as a strange metal horse passed through them, then as a result she became more cautious around her.
"Mommy! Mommy! What was that?!" Chocorina, unlike her mother, was more amazed rather than wary, she was naive and an airhead, as expected of a child.
"Tha-that...seems familiar... where did I...ah!" Emilia suddenly remembered one of Subaru's stories he mentioned something about metal mounts that were supposedly faster than an earth dragon, it was called a car.
Realizing this, she finally believed her husband's story that he was from another world, it wasn't that she didn't believe him. It's just hard to believe but now it's all in the past, she believes him fully.
"I think I know... where we are now Chocorina.." Knowing that she wasn't in her world anymore, it didn't help her calm down at all!
Instead, it made her panic a little, based on what she heard from her husband, his world was peaceful, at least on the surface.
"Really?! Then we can go home!" Chocorina cheered.
"Chocorinaaaaa~ I'm afraid it's not that simple, we are not even in our world anymore." Emilia smiled nervously at her daughter's comment, she wasn't as naive as she was in the past and she was smart enough to figure that they are in a dire situation.
"Mommy? What do you mean?" Chocorina tilted her head in confusion.
She sighs, she couldn't blame her daughter for not understanding her, then she simplified her previous words.
"I mean, where are you currently at your dad's place?"
After hearing that Chocorina elf's ears excitedly moved. "Daddy's home?! Yay! Let's go to daddy's place then!"
Instead of making her daughter understand, she made it worse instead.
"Chocorina I don't think that's possible….?" Emilia noticed that several people were looking at them, a few were taking pictures of the mother-daughter pair.
"Woah, that silver elf cosplayer is extremely beautiful! Not to mention the girl, she's sooooo cute! Are they perhaps famous cosplayers?"
"I don't think so, I'm quite familiar with famous cosplayers, yet none of them are as beautiful or cute as they are!"
"Perhaps they're new?"
"Maybe?"
Emilia couldn't help but feel uncomfortable under their gaze, though it wasn't the same for her daughter who was filled with curiosity as she looked at the bystanders around them.
"Mommy, they dress weirdly! Mommy look, it's the same as daddy's tracksuit!" Chocorina pointed cutely at the random male in front of her.
"Chocorina, let's go." She feels uncomfortable being looked at by these people, it reminded her of the past before she became the queen.
Emilia carried Chocorina away from the prying eyes of the crowd.
---
10 years, it's been a whole decade since Natsuki Subaru had been missing.
Inside a common Japanese house, a woman was staring at the window with lifeless eyes, she was Natsuki Naoko.
Subaru's biological mother, since her son went missing her lifestyle has been affected, she barely has a good sleep or a meal.
Losing her son was just too much for her to handle. In the first week of her son's absence, she cried out of depression and sadness.
Then years later, she could no longer shed tears in her dry eyes.
Despite everything that happened within a decade, she never stopped believing that her son was still there, he was still alive somewhere.
She truly believed that, because it's the only reason why keeps moving in her daily life. Naoko won't stop believing that her son is still alive.
Even when everyone else, including her husband, says that her son is dead, no she won't believe that her baby is dead not until she sees his corpse.
For the past few years, her husband insisted on getting a funeral for their son, but she denied having her son's funeral!
Having no choice, Kenichi didn't force her to accept because he understands what she feels, it was their son. How could he not feel the same?
As much as it hurts him, he needs to accept the bitter and painful truth, unlike his wife who refuses to.
Naoko decided to stop staring at the window and went outside for fresh air, as she went outside she bought a picture frame of her son with her, hugging it tightly in her chest.
This has become her daily routine because it makes her feel a bit better, her neighbors were already used to her doing the same thing for the past few years.
At first, they found it strange, but they eventually got used to it.
"My baby….my son... where are you? Mom misses you…" Naoko muttered under her breath, but honestly, if anyone were to hear her and think she's crazy, she doesn't care because it's one of the only things that keep her at ease.
She keeps walking and walking until she bumps into someone.
"Ah! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bump at yo-"
Naoko failed to notice the pause and stared at the person she bumped into, to her surprise it was a very beautiful woman who is wearing this so-called 'cosplay' regardless, she has never seen a woman who was this beautiful.
"Ah! Auntie are you o-kay?"
Then her eyes shifted toward the girl beside the woman she saw was the cutest child that she had ever seen in her entire life, she admits it but for a strange reason she looks...a bit of her son…
Then she shook her head, thinking that she's just tired, and started hallucinating a bit.
For the first time in a few years, she smiled a little at the girl. "I'm fine."
Then the woman beside the girl was staring at her, to be specific she was staring at the picture frame in her arm.
Naoko noticed this and was about to say something, but then she heard the woman say her son's name.
"Subaru?"
Hearing that Naoko's heart stops.
---
Emilia and Chocorina just got away from the people who took a picture of them and while getting away from those people Emilia bumped into a woman.
Embarrassed by her carelessness, she said.
"Ah! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bump at yo-"
She stopped her sentence because she saw a picture of her husband in the woman's arms. It was a picture back when her husband was a decade younger, back when he was still her lovely knight.
It was a bit nostalgic, she couldn't help but say the name of her husband.
"Subaru?"
After she said her husband's name, the woman in front flinched and exclaimed.
"Y-you! H-how did you know that name! Tell me!" The woman stared at her with strangely familiar scary eyes.
Emilia was a bit surprised by her sudden outburst, because of this action she couldn't help but drag Chocorina closer to her.
It was a natural instinct for a mother to protect their child from potential danger.
Then Emilia noticed that the woman was trembling, and was ready to cry any moment now.
"P-please….if you know where he is please tell me.." The woman started crying.
Emilia became guilty for this, thinking that this was her fault, then her daughter Chocorina looked worried at the woman.
To answer the woman's question, she said. "He's my husband...lady are you..are you perhaps related?"
After the woman heard her answer her eyes widened and looked at her with disbelief.
"M-my son's... wife? You….t-then…"
Hearing the lady's words, Emilia's body trembled in shock.
Her husband's mother….?!
"Your son..? A-are you Natsuki Naoko?" Just to be sure, she mentioned her husband's mother's name.
"Yes..!"
Because of the revelation, no one dared to move first, well except for the innocent quarter-elf.
Chocorina pointed at Naoko with a big bright smile. "Mommy! Is that Granny?!"
Without hesitation, Chocorina hugged Naoko's leg and said, "Hehe.. granny! It's nice to meet you!"
The tense atmosphere from before was already broken, and Naoko hesitantly said. "Y-you two...will you follow me in my house to talk?"
Emilia slowly nods, it was better for them to talk in private.
Thus they went to the Natsuki Household to talk.
