The tenderness of her touch and the supremely floral scent—a harmonious blend of rose and jasmine—swept over him, taking Lu Jianjun completely by surprise. The fragrance fit her perfectly, like a classic love with a hint of something mysterious and unknowable, stirring memories and thoughts that he had never associated with her before. 

"Very much like her," he mused silently, his mind tethered to her scent. For the first time in all their encounters, he found himself utterly consumed by something as simple as the fragrance she wore. She is distracting him. It was as if the bodily senses had overridden his mental defenses, seeping into the deepest corners of his consciousness. There was something profoundly intimate in that moment—something that made him aware of her in a way he had never allowed himself to be.
